We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineering (PE) Supervisor to join our Agile Mission Systems (ASM) team in Poway, CA. In this role, the candidate will provide supervisorial and individual contribution responsibilities within the Technology and Manufacturing Maturation (TMM) PE group supporting development, integration, and sustainment of a wide variety of high TRL Payloads, Components, and Suppliers ranging from Radar, ESM, EO/IR, Antennas, and more. Candidate will also support the transition of exciting new developmental payloads to production.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represents the organization as a prime technical contact within ASM for the Technology & Manufacturing Maturation Project Engineering team supporting the efficient transition of ‘MRL 5-9/TRL 6-8’ mature products to production and customer fielding of cutting-edge UAS payloads including technology areas of Electronic Warfare, Signals Intelligence, Communications and Datalinks, Radars, and supporting ground elements.

  • Supervise and direct the work of senior professional technical leaders and oversee their output for consistency and accuracy.

  • Provide leadership and act as a mentor and advisor to senior staff and align staff to ASM business objectives and Project Engineering department goals.

  • With limited direction, provide leadership, direction, and guidance to a multi-discipline engineering team by determining technical objectives for the review, research, design, development, and/or solutions to resolve highly technical and complex engineering problems.

  • Manage complex projects and cross-functional engineering teams as primary Engineering point of contact. Execute to cost, schedule, and performance.

  • Develop and execute transition to production plans including but not limited to production workflows, point of manufacturing, production test procedures, and quality inspection plans.

  • Maintain communication between GA project team(s) and sub-contractors/suppliers to ensure requirements and delivery schedules are aligned.

  • Lead system level Qualification, Verification and Validation Testing of hardware and software with emphasis placed on deriving & tracking test requirements, generation of system level Test Plans and Procedures, conducting Lab/Ground/Flight testing.

  • Develops and presents technical material for diverse group of internal and Customer stakeholders.

  • Contributes to Project Engineering departmental priorities including planning and managing technical performance to ensure quality, business and financial objectives are attained.

  • Plans, tracks and manages departmental manpower as well as manages employee timekeeping.

  • Contributes to the refinement and application of engineering standards and processes.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

  • Demonstrates technical expertise in the application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as project management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.

  • Must have previous experience in Technical Project Management or similar role, and experience in technical leadership with an emphasis on project execution as well as product innovation.

  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, and government representatives.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in a dynamic work environment, and possess the ability to resolve complex technical problems.

  • Must be able to lead a cross-functional team through fundamental engineering best practices such as but not limited to top-down requirement decomposition, design development, Trade Studies, System/Software/Hardware architecture development, technical reviews, acceptance and qualification testing.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in mechanical and/or electrical development technologies, architectures, methodologies, processes, and the application of Systems Engineering principles to engineering development.

  • Must have experience with production, procurement, and quality process is in support of pre-production

  • Must be customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.

  • Knowledge of team building, team development and other leadership skills is a must.

  • Desired to be familiar several of the following technologies: Radar Systems, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Antennas, Payload Command and Control (C2), Avionics, Electrical Systems, Real Time Systems, Data Dissemination, Computers and Networks, Open Architectures, Embedded Systems, Product Exploitation.

  • Current active DoD Security Clearance is required. Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance is highly desired.
