Nuvance Health Supervisor Patient Access in Poughkeepsie, New York

Summary:

The Patient Access Supervisor is responsible for providing daily leadership, training, mentoring and support to the Patient Access Department. Ensure efficient and proper collection and distribution of demographic and financial patient information. Responsible and accountable for the efficient operations of the patient access areas. Collaborates with the Manager of Patient Access to implement and develop policies and procedures within the patient access department. This position communicates and interacts successfully with individuals at all levels within the organization, including external customers of the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the day-to-day operations of the Patient Access Department focusing on scheduling, registration, eligibility, point of service collections, and patient satisfaction.

  • Manages and maintains revenue cycle worklists prioritizing high dollar encounters and meeting the identified thresholds determined by leadership that will support the ability to process claims in a timely manner.

  • Keeps abreast of the daily operations with active rounding by soliciting staff input and making improvements based on departmental needs. Assesses the changing needs and trends of the department and acts to support the team in a positive and collaborative manner.

  • Motivates and mentors’ employees to assist them in meeting their performance goals and to cultivate staff professional development. Ensures timely performance assessment and feedback, performance management, and succession planning.

  • Monitors quality and productivity levels for both individual staff members and the team as a whole; Identifies and re-trains underperforming staff members as needed.

  • Plans and conducts meetings with direct reports to ensure compliance with established practices, to implement new policies and keep employees abreast of current changes and standards.

  • Partners with Human Resource to ensure effective recruitment; conducts interviews, hiring, onboarding, and retention.

  • Monitors Corporate Compliance, Quality Improvement policies and procedures, and appropriate safety programs. Promotes a safe and efficient working environment by, maintaining departmental policies, practices and manuals as well as ensuring all staff adheres to the same.

  • Works closely with other departments within the hospital, to ensure patient / customer needs are met in a timely manner while adhering to standard policies and procedures Assumes responsibility for department and inter-department communications to ensure information is shared for effective operations and promote employee and patient relations.

  • Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Assists in the preparation of reports and analyses, setting forth progress, and adverse trends and makes appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

  • Ensures resource management is in line with departmental needs based on hours of operation and physical location of workplace.

  • Provides department specific training or assists in the delivery of training curriculum.

· *Required: *Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

· Minimum of 3-5 years job-related experience.

· PC literate, highly customer service oriented.

· Able to cover day to day operations in the absence of leadership.

License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:

· National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) certification within 1 year of hire

Working Conditions:

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Little or no potential for occupational risk

Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
