Job Summary:
Maintains Plant operations for the Facilities Department. Establishes and carries out a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all equipment. Maintains liaison with all regulatory agencies. Plans and manages all repair related shutdowns of equipment in the plant. Provides guidance and support for the Engineering Department Plant Operations staff. Trains watch personnel as required.
Responsibilities:
Maintains and oversees the Boiler Plant, including the Automated Building Management systems.
Provides guidance and support for all Facilities Department plant operations and staff.
Provides guidance as required on a variety of engineering and maintenance activities including heat, power, ventilation, plumbing, and general maintenance of the plant.
Ensures that all certifications, permits and licenses are current.
Establishes and carries-out a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for the Plant including, but not limited to, high-pressure steam, chillers, emergency generators, equipment, water chemistry, and fuel storage to ensure continuous comprehensive and cost-efficient reliability to minimize corrective maintenance and overall maintenance costs.
Maintains the operations, maintenance and repairs of the plant and auxiliary equipment to ensure compliance with the rules, regulations and codes of all governmental agencies pertaining to the plant’s mechanical equipment.
Establishes specifications for new equipment and maintains a certified vendor list.
Assists in troubleshooting complex equipment problems related to steam, air conditioning, energy management and/or mechanical equipment problems to help departmental personnel solve job related problems.
Will act as liaison with external entities, gas transportation, electrical transmission, emergency response and internal operations.
Collaborates with Director and outside contractors to plan alterations and renovations with regard to the steam and chilled water system, and to facilitate utility shutdowns.
Maintains resources including supplies, equipment, space, and information.
Maintains records and reports on performance of training of staff and the need for continuing education of equipment and duties.
Plans and ensures adequate supplies on-hand.
Evaluates equipment and recommends maintenance, repair, upgrade or replacement including hospital vehicles.
Participates in the planning and utilization of space.
Verifies the maintenance and integrity of conventional and computer-aided records and information before forwarding to Facilities Management.
Works closely with the Facility leadership team to plan and review work-related problems.
Ensures that the goals of the Facilities Department for the Plant are met and that resources are allocated properly.
Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
Trains new facilities staff and continuing education with established staff as needed and the maintenance duties as required or needed.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum of seven (7) years progressively responsible related experience in industrial power plant operation and distribution.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Knowledge of energy plant operation and maintenance, and related mathematics, blueprints, codes, and regulations as normally acquired through completion of two (2) years of college, vocational or technical school related to experience in industrial power plant operations.
Licenses / Certifications:
Hold and maintain a class B UST Operator certificate
