Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY :

Performs general maintenance and assist with security functions to provide a safe and comfortable environment for all patients, staff, and visitors.

  • Hold a current certification related to Plant Operations and or Life Safety

  • Operates, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs all equipment and systems related to the physical plant.

  • Maintains “Area of Responsibility” (AOR) for all Life Safety requirements.

  • Reports to the Manager of Facilities Maintenance & Security.

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Facility Maintenance

· Completes assigned Health Stream training courses within appropriate time frame.

· Advocates for the hospital and department at all times.

· Be an active member of shift turnover. Reporting deficiencies, mechanical issues, jobs not completed, vendors still on premises and security issues.

· Records data as required by boiler and/or chemical logs. Analyzes such readings, making necessary corrections to ensure safe and comfortable conditions within the hospital.

· Estimates and prices out all materials and labor for assigned jobs and provides supervisor with a copy for efficient scheduling.

· Completes work orders when scheduled within a reasonable amount of time, good quality and shall be accountable for work orders not completed within the required timeframe in Engineering Central

· Ensure customer is delighted with work performed and they have signed off accepting the job.

· Ensure your assigned PMs are completed on time with good quality.

· Maintains and inspects AOR on a continuous basis and report results to your immediate supervisor by the end of the 3 rd full week of every month.

· Maintains > 90% Productivity on a weekly basis.

· Monitor & mitigate safety hazards i.e.; ice, snow, trash, tripping hazards etc. on exterior walkways and parking areas 24/7.

· Be proficient, self-starting and accountable for the execution of your owned/assigned responsibilities.

· Ensure adequate spare parts are on hand for general maintenance repairs ie; light bulbs, thermostats, ceiling tiles, plumbing supplies etc.

· Ensure the Maintenance Shop and work areas are clean and professional in appearance.

· Take pride in your job and take the initiative to perform your job functions with minimal oversight.

· Perform Emergency Generator testing when scheduled

· Work with Manager and Director to put your certification to work in order to benefit the hospital i.e.; reduce contracted services, enhance in-house services, reduce and control regulatory requirements etc.

Educational Requirements

  • Vocational School Graduate

  • Heat Ventilation Air Condition (HVAC), or Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), or EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification
