Data Scientist

Responsible for working with and understanding the various elements of data both internal and external to the organization and its clients. Explores the usage pattern and help with profiling the data from sources. Assists in mapping to a conforming model, work with business groups to help build that model, and eventually be expected to assist in governing the model. Works with product groups to understand existing data, and works towards cleansing and conforming that data. Understands the business logic behind the various HR calculations, and assists in creating new standard calculations for the organization. Finds relationships and analyze critical factors for use in predictive models. Guides the decisions on which BI objects to build based on the subject area, guide the best practices for data visualization, and help to dictate the standards for the delivery of information. Data Scientists are expected to be results-oriented, have knowledge of new and legacy technologies, have knowledge of the relevant platforms and environments, and be familiar with business process, functions and data within their domain to provide innovative, insightful, and secure solutions.

This position requires knowledge and experience in own discipline; still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills. Builds knowledge of the company, processes and customers. Solves a range of straightforward problems. Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.

Requirements

Education: Desired BA/BS degree -- or equivalent in education and experience.

Experience: Desired a related experience in the area.

Fuctional Knowledge: Requires expanded conceptual knowledge in own discipline and broadens capabilities.

Business Expertise: Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work.

Leadership: Provides informal guidance to new team members.

Problem Solving: Be able to solve problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgement and precedents.

Interpersonal Skills: Communication - Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations.
