Transportation Design EngineerJob Description

A prominent Pacific Northwest-based engineering firm is seeking a Transportation Design Engineer with experience in public projects, specifically in roadway and intersection design, and storm-water management. This person will be responsible for roadway design, calculations, and geometric design. They will work on a variety of projects ranging from $500,000 to $3 million, with typical timelines of 3-5 years. Projects include large multi-discipline efforts such as the design of storm-water, sewer, waterlines, staging, and traffic control. In addition to leading projects, the role involves some business development responsibilities.

As an integral member of the roadway/highway design team, you will assist in managing moderate to large-scale projects and independently oversee smaller projects, adhering to local or ASHTO standards. You will execute design tasks for state and local municipal public works projects, as well as private development projects. Responsibilities include managing project tasks independently, juggling multiple assignments, ensuring ongoing communication with project managers, reviewing junior staff designs, coordinating with subconsultants, maintaining project schedules and budgets, and ensuring client satisfaction. You will need to understand project scopes and budgets, supporting the project manager in delivering projects within defined success metrics.

This is a long term permanent role in Portland, OR and offers a hybrid schedule with 3 days in office, 2 days from home
