Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join our team – we have exciting projects and ongoing pursuits! You will lead an integrated program team composed of both client and consultant staff, ensuring adherence to the mission and objectives of the assigned program. In this position, the Senior Program Manager directs and supervises activities related to stakeholder deliverables, contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, project financial projections, and schedule requirements to ensure projects are completed with quality, in budget and governance and adhering to our client’s and Stantec’s Safety culture.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assist owners/clients with execution of the program, addressing strategy and delivery challenges and supporting internal client departments as required. You will oversee implementation of program delivery procedures and processes and confirm the program team’s performance against stated objectives.

  • Oversee all services provided by an integrated team, including but not limited to: general program and project management services (scheduling, cost controls, risk management, change management, document control, interface management, engineering management etc.), preliminary design, subject matter expert technical support on projects, regulatory and permitting support , technical studies to support planning and design efforts, procurement of design and construction, construction management, operations & maintenance liaison, operations and maintenance readiness, community outreach and communications, project and program delivery strategy, funding strategy and training/knowledge transfer.

  • Providing day-to-day guidance to multi-disciplinary teams in a co-located Program Management Office (PMO) environment, typically located at a client facility.

  • Serving as a trusted advisor to the client and working as part of an integrated Client/Consultant Leadership Team.

  • Assisting the client with putting in place and implementing a robust governance structure to ensure adherence to a rigorous approach to project and program management.

  • Pro-actively identifying client needs and programmatic initiatives required to address potential program delivery risks and challenges.

  • Assisting the client in development of its staff through implementation of best practices, training classes and knowledge transfer.

  • Developing, negotiating, and managing consultant services authorizations for program management services.

  • Preparing or overseeing preparation of various reports for the client and the company.

  • Reviewing consultant and contractor submittals including technical and contractual documents.

  • Providing programmatic and technical support related to client governing bodies and various other departments.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Specialized project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning, and executing public and private projects from pursuit through closeout, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey program and project delivery needs to the client and to formulate those needs into comprehensive proposals.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects and activities simultaneously.

  • The position involves work associated with critical infrastructure; therefore, a client background check is required.

  • Strong technical understanding of large infrastructure, organizations and processes required.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, and project; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.

  • Knowledgeable in relevant areas of construction and understanding of various design and construction contracting methods and processes.

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, construction principles, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.

  • Experience supporting sales processes for acquisition of new program opportunities and startup of new capital infrastructure programs is desirable.

  • Ability to be an independent thinker capable of solving problems within a team environment by analyzing technical issues, applying underlying principles, and delivering cost-effective solutions that provide value to clients.

Education And Experience

  • Minimum 20 years’ relevant experience in project management preferably for large engineering, design, and construction projects

  • 10 years’ experience leading a multi-disciplinary team involved in the planning, design and/or construction of utility infrastructure is required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or sciences, master's degree is considered an asset.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for extended periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
