Providence Senior Director Women and Children Institute - OR in Portland, Oregon

THE ROLE

This is a full time, remote position that will require some travel. The Senior Director of the Women and Children Institute works with physician groups to research and develop specific quality and business strategies to meet community needs; defining data and resources required for implementation; working with internal and external stakeholders to develop business or improvement plans for identified Women and Children's Services initiatives and projects; and overseeing Women's and Children's Services program development and quadruple aim performance measures as well as ROI evaluation process. This position is integral to achieving population health and business objectives for the service line. This position will also partner with other divisional service area and system departments to ensure alignment with Providence Health & Services strategy and assure Oregon alignment with system initiatives for quality, safety, and clinical standardization.

MAJOR CHALLENGES:

  • Maintain clear communication to all who are involved in service improvements and additions.

  • Adapt and respond effectively to a constantly changing health care environment. Prioritize tasks in response to changes.

  • Strategic development of Women and Children's Institute programs.

  • Ensure growth, strength and stability of program, including departments caring for perinatal and pediatric patients that do not have reporting relationship with Women and Children's Services while maintaining budget performance.

Patient Population Served: Neonate, Pediatric, Adult

Consequently, the employee must be competent in the interpretation of a patient's self-report or behavior, and this information must be interpreted with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional/psychosocial and chronological maturation process. The treatment of patients should be individualized and should reflect an understanding of the developmental needs and range of treatment needs for each patient.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Participate in the development of long-term strategic and financial planning to support Women and Children's Program growth strategies and vision for Women's Services. Ability to analyze and trend economic, market, and competitive program data.

  • Develop business plans/feasibility studies for new programs, products and services. Plans include the operational and financial viability of new or improved services lines.

  • Provides coordination and relationship-building across all PH&S Regional and System entities involved in the care of women and normal newborns (non-NICU), to achieve connected and integrated care delivery.

  • Manage establishment of goals and objectives, clinical policies and procedures and standards for Women's Services-and manage development of population specific metrics/data, including Regional Data Services and Quality Program. Coordinate activities with appropriate Regional and System PH&S departments as necessary.

  • Interviews and hires for direct reports and ensures they are properly trained, oriented and mentored in their positions.

  • Manages performance of direct reports. Provides annual performance evaluations, on-going feedback, coaching and corrective action as appropriate.

  • Provides leadership to Triple Aim performance for Perinatal Services including coordination of Providence System initiatives within the Oregon Region.

  • Manages complex projects with strategic importance and/or orchestrates the development of business plans.

  • Provides leadership for program development to support strategic vision and plans related to new or improved lines of business for the Women and Children's program.

  • Facilitates and participates in committees with cross-functional teams within the Women and Children's Program and throughout PH&S.

  • Collaborate with regional physician/clinician recruitment in the coordination of recruitment activities.

  • Works with Medical Foundations to develop strategic philanthropy opportunities for Women's Services.

  • Manages best practice sharing and resource pooling with other planning staff throughout the organization, including health plan, regional administration and program planners.

  • Represents Providence Health & Services on Statewide collaborative/workgroups to advocate for alignment of strategy in the payment, care model and standards of care for Women's services.

  • Accountable for monitoring and addressing service line financial performance across outpatient and inpatient ministries serving the perinatal population, and work with key stakeholders to address barriers to meetings targets.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related fields.

  • Bachelor's Degree (BSN required)

  • 5 years of progressively increasing responsibility in healthcare management or administrative positions

  • Nurse experience in OB

  • 2 years of experience leading and mentoring direct reports and managing their performance

  • Demonstrated experience in developing successful working relationships with clinicians and management staff

  • Clinical/Operations experience in healthcare (preferred)

  • Ability to analyze and trend economic, market, and competitive service line data

  • Demonstrated knowledge of primary, specialty and ambulatory healthcare operations

  • Demonstrated leadership skills; ability to build consensus and work on a collaborative team basis

  • Ability to anticipate and efficiently and effectively solve complex problems

  • Ability to lead and handle multiple detailed projects simultaneously

  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and projects to successful completion

  • Ability to build effective relationships with executive and senior management, clinicians and other health care providers, peers and direct reports

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize work, manage time and respond effectively to rapid changing environments

  • Possess superior analytical skills, excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Superior interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization

  • Manage performance of direct reports. Provide annual performance evaluations, on-going feedback, coaching and corrective action as appropriate

  • Provide leadership to Triple Aim performance for Perinatal Services including coordination of Providence System initiatives within the Oregon Region, with System Clinical Program Services, and with other health systems

  • Represents Providence Women and Children's Services on System or community boards, committees, or other functions as assigned

  • Develop business plans and capital requests for new programs, products and services. Plans include the operational and financial viability of new or improved services lines.
