Description

We are offering an opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Financial Services industry, located in Portland, Maine. The successful candidate will be part of our team, managing various accounting tasks, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, and Month-End Close. This role offers a long term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Handle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions accurately and timely.

• Execute bank reconciliations promptly and accurately to ensure financial integrity.

• Maintain and manage the General Ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate.

• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.

• Complete month-end close procedures accurately and within the specified timeline.

• Monitor and analyze financial statements for discrepancies and resolve any issues.

• Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability.

• Collaborate with team members to achieve company financial goals.

• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards in all accounting practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Proficiency in Bank Reconciliations

• Solid understanding of General Ledger operations

• Experience in preparing and posting Journal Entries

• Familiarity with Month End Close procedures

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work as part of a team

• Must be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
