University of Maine System Policy Associate II - National Tribal Child Welfare Center for Innovation and Advancement in Portland, Maine
The Catherine Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine is pleased to announce an opening for a full-time National Tribal Child Welfare Center Project Manager: Policy Associate II.
The Policy Associate II (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mnZXruqpZhu-jlwaDq9fK08X8LGyM54l/view?usp=sharing) will serve as the Project Manager for the National Tribal Child Welfare Center for Innovation and Advancement (the Center) (https://www.ntcwcia.org/) , a five-year cooperative agreement funded by the Children’s Bureau (https://acf.gov/cb) that provides training and technical assistance to Tribal child welfare programs in five priority areas: workforce supports, prevention programs, federal requirement support, tribal-state collaborations, and data management.
This position is responsible for managing operations and University systems for the Center, working closely with the Center Leadership Team to ensure the timely completion of project goals and deliverables. This position is a part of the USM Leadership Team and manages internal project communications, monitors project data collection activities, and completes federal reporting activities for the Center. The ideal person for this role will have previous experience managing federal projects and budgets; an understanding of tribal child welfare policy and practice and interest in serving American Indian and Alaska Native communities; and exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills.

Depending on the candidate, this position may be fully remote or hybrid at our Portland, Maine office.
This is a grant funded position with a starting annual salary up to $75,000 commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications:
Previous experience working with American Indian/Alaska Native individuals and/or communities
Bachelor’s Degree and seven years of experience managing projects or equivalent combination of higher education and experience
Demonstrated ability to manage large projects and budgets over $1 million
Exceptional organization and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to take initiative to identify and propose new tasks and procedures
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work on a variety of large and small teams with diverse groups of people
Flexibility in meeting the varied needs of a large team
Excellent customer service skills
