Facilities Master Plumber\ Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department - Public Buildings

External New Hire Candidates willing to commit for two years are eligible for a \$2,500 sign on bonus to be paid out over the 2 years.

This position will work under the direction of the Public Buildings Foreman. The Facilities Master Plumber assists city operations and trades staff with maintaining plumbing and heating systems to ensure systems meet local and state plumbing codes. This position will perform periodic inspection and maintenance of city plumbing equipment such as sump pumps, water circulators, backflow preventers, etc. The Master Plumber will design, plan and Install new plumbing and heating systems in city buildings, repair existing systems, seasonal startup/shutdown and maintain water testing logs.

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of all local and state codes pertaining to the plumbing field.
  • Ability to operate hand and power equipment to include, but not limited to, pipe cutters, drills, welder, power drain cleaner, power threader, ladders, safety equipment, wrenches, etc.
  • Knowledge and implementation of all safety controls and procedures related to plumbing and mechanical systems.
  • Must have the ability to read blueprints and schematics and the ability to interpret and understand technical manuals.
  • This position requires physical ability to bend, lift 50 pounds, stoop and work at heights or confined spaces for periods of time.
  • Applicants should be able to withstand exposure to varied climatic conditions and have the willingness to respond to emergencies on a 24 hours basis.
  • Must possess a State of Maine Masters Plumbing License.
  • A valid Class C driver\'s license and a good driving record is required.

Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a transportation worker identification credential and criminal background check.

Salary & Benefits:

This is a union position, Labor & Trades Union (Grade 62) - \$30.76/hr. to \$33.61/hr. based on previous experience.\ A 3% Stipend will be added to base pay for applicants that possess a Natural gas and Propane license.
