Palmer College of Chiropractic Faculty - Clinical Science in Port Orange, Florida

This is a full-time ranked faculty position in the clinical sciences department.

The term Faculty is limited to regular personnel at Palmer whose regular assignment includes instruction, research and/or public service as a principal activity and who hold academic rank as Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, or Instructor. Faculty play an important role in curriculum and policy development; faculty are planners who must constantly look to the long-term future of education and discovery. The faculty is expected to work closely with students, other faculty, and administration of the College in promoting the strategic plan.

Duties include preparing/presenting lectures (in person and online), composing and grading exams, practicals, quizzes and assisting students in developing the psycho-motor skills required in performing patient evaluation and management in the Technique department.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Responsible to the assigned administrator and has a support responsibility to all other departments and college personnel as necessary.

  • Responsible for the direct supervision of department personnel and others as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Faculty duties fall under several areas: teaching, scholarly work, service/citizenship, and advising/mentorship. Some faculty may also have patient care responsibilities as part of their assignment. Specifically, the following activities are expected of all faculty:

  • Preparation and presentation of individual lectures.

  • Course syllabus management, contents review.

  • Development and administration of formative and summative assessments.

  • Contribute to the development, administration and grading of course evaluations.

  • Maintain appropriate office hours as required.

  • Coordinate all learning activities.

  • Proctoring exams and other responsibilities related to teaching and advising.

  • Serve on appointed committees, task forces and other teams.

  • Perform all responsibilities in a manner that fully complies with Palmer’s Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action policy.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience with online and in person course instruction.

  • Ability to perform assigned teaching duties effectively.

  • Ability to utilize general office equipment and other necessary equipment in teaching.

  • Ability to effectively advise and mentor students.

  • Ability to work effectively with others.

  • Ability to work independently and autonomously.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to work various hours as job requires.

  • Experience with ExamSoft, Brightspace, and Palmer Package.

  • Experience with ECW/EHR software.

  • Experience with chiropractic practice management and laws/regulations.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates must have a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from a CCE accredited institution; a bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by a nationally recognized agency, or its foreign equivalent; current or potential licensure in the state of Florida and 5 years of documented practice experience and teaching experience in an institution of higher education. Knowledge of Palmer Package technique is preferred. Computer literacy with email and Microsoft Office products is required. Online coursework instruction is required for this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Performs sedentary to light work in a ventilated, lighted, and temperature-controlled office setting.
