CpK Interior Products Quality Engineer in Port Hope, Ontario
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Responsible for all duties as they relate to the Advance Product Quality Planning/Program Management Model. The Quality Engineer participates, facilitates and/or completes assigned projects in all product development teams and helps to ensure customer, quality and operational goals are satisfied. Focuses on IATF standard for cost accounting and quality improvement through a formal commitment to excellence, cost efficiency and reliability.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:
Reports and conveys existing and advance programs issues/status/activities in a timely and consistent manner at a bi-monthly and month end frequency to the Quality Manager and others as determined appropriate
Communicates and travels when necessary and at prescribed frequencies to respond in a timely manner to customer issues, concerns, complaints, rejects, and warranty issues that relate to the complete quality of the product supplied (ie. fit, form, function, service, appearance, etc.)
Manage the quality system to ensure accreditation and continuity of accreditation to IATF16949, including management of the staff training system and role outline, responsibility and competency records
Organize and manage the IATF16949 Internal/External Quality Audit System and Corrective Action System per prescribed requirements, where applicable
Participate and/or facilitates in continuous improvement activities (including associated tier II documentation) related to assignments that will promote productivity, reduce warranty costs/returns, reduce overall cost, improve material utilization and enhance complete quality
Comply with the facility quality/environmental policy and any applicable operational controls in order to meet the established environmental objectives and targets
Comply with the facilities World Class Manufacturing principles in order to meet the established targets and objectives
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge/Skill/Experience):
BSc.in Engineering or Natural Science Discipline (preferably Mechanical and/or Chemical) or Engineering Technologist/Technician Diploma (preferably Mechanical and/or Industrial), or possession of CQE designation, CQT designation and/or Quality Assurance Diploma from a recognized institute
Interpretive ability to work with automotive drawings and internal quality audit training strongly recommended
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the Automotive Engineering or the Manufacture of Instrument Panels at a supervisory level
Knowledge of statistical techniques, and advance quality techniques is preferred (QFD, DOE, Control Plans, FMEAS, etc.)
IATF 16949 and GM/Ford/FCA specific quality requirements are strongly recommended
Proven interpersonal, relationship building and conflict resolution abilities with effective communication skills
Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision making and problem solving attributes
Ability to work efficiently as a part of a team, as well as independently
Must have flexible with working hours based on customer demand and plant requirements
Working skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
