The Opportunity

Williams International has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Writer to join our team.

Williams International has an exciting opportunity in the Product Support team as a Technical Writer. Product Support is responsible for many facets of the business. A high level overview of Product Support's areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, customer communication, technical publications, engine maintenance training, technical troubleshooting, aftermarket business planning and forecasting, inventory and component repair forecasting, inventory warehouse management, global hardware distribution, customer orders and invoicing, maintenance contracts, maintenance scheduling, service facility contracts, and fleet data collection and analysis, along with product improvement prioritization and coordination with Project Engineering. In addition, the Product Support team includes an FAA Part 145 repair station that is responsible for the maintenance and test of customer turbine engines and component repair. 

The role of the Technical Writer is instrumental in supporting experimental, new, and existing product. This role writes and publishes the technical data and procedures needed to maintain, rework, and repair engines. In addition, this role interfaces with other Product Support Personnel as well as Design and Project Engineering to ensure technical publications are accurate, meet the needs of the users, and are released on time.

The Technical Writer will:

  • Write, edit, publish, maintain, and administrate technical publications, illustrated parts catalogs, work instructions, and service documents for aircraft engines and other products. Other documents the Technical Writer is responsible for include customer communications, marketing materials, desk level instructions, support knowledge base answers, and training aids
  • Responsible for meeting standards, requirements, and publication schedules
  • Generate illustrations or coordinate illustration generation with supporting departments
  • Interpret and apply engineering, and other technical, data to publications
  • Responsible for planning new projects including data modeling and determining the appropriate editorial standards and publication methods
  • Track technical content changes and source data using various database applications
  • Improve role related processes
  • Interact with engineers, technicians, and other personnel during the course of each project/assignment
  • Troubleshoot and support publication related issues and enhancements, along with coordinating with IT and other system experts
  • Perform other tasks assigned by leadership

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Technical and Professional Communication or English or IT or Engineering is required

Must be able to gather and analyze complex technical data and information and produce clear, concise, accurate, and complete documentation for end users while meeting applicable, standards, requirements, and schedules

Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

Able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively
