ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Patrols, periodically, buildings and grounds of hotel establishment, marina, or work site and noting unusual circumstances or safety violations.
  • During patrols, look for suspicious or undesirable persons and escort off property if warranted.
  • Document, report, and follow-up on safety hazards.
  • Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
  • Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
  • Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
  • Sounds alarm in case of fire.
  • Registers at watch stations to record time of inspection trips.
  • Regulates vehicle and pedestrian traffic at hotel entrance to maintain orderly flow.
  • Enforce the hotel associate entrance/exit policy.
  • Protect and follow departmental procedures for all master keys.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with hotel property.
  • Escort and witness cash drops when requested.
  • Assist in shipping and receiving operations.
  • Enforce the hotel red sticker policy.
  • Have knowledge of the hotel's guestroom key system.
  • Develop Loss Prevention staff through training and example.
  • Make decisions on treating and/or sending injured associates/guests for medical treatment.
