The Unemployment Insurance (UI) division at the IDOL has an exciting opportunity for a full time UI Navigator (Workforce Consultant). This position will provide mobile services for the Blackfoot and surrounding areas of South Eastern Idaho, by traveling to the different locations on a scheduled basis, and work from the Pocatello office when not traveling.

This position is instrumental in administering Idaho's unemployment benefits program and assisting individuals in person with questions regarding Unemployment Insurance and navigating the UI program. The ideal candidate has strong oral communications skills, excellent problem-solving and organizational skills, high tolerance to stress, can work independently and has ability to work proficiently with computers and software programs.

Example of Duties:

  • Review claims to determine UI eligibility for benefits.

  • Explain benefit payment options and anticipate and provide detailed and clear instruction regarding unemployment insurance processes and the claimant's rights and responsibilities.

  • Provide technical assistance on filing a claim for customers.

  • Provide in person assistance to claimants with questions about their claim.

  • Determine how to best serve a customer, particularly a customer with language, computer literacy, disabilities or other barriers and ensure they are provided quality customer service.

  • Visit businesses for rapid response efforts, mass layoffs or to provide mobile claims filing.

  • Take overpayment and employer tax payments.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. You must attach a resume, work history and references to your application. Your work history and/or resume must clearly reflect how you meet the minimum qualifications. Failure to provide this information may disqualify you from being considered for this position.

  • Experience conducting interviews and documenting information. Typically requires one year of experience OR six months of work experience conducting interviews and documenting information AND six credit hours of college coursework in which effective use of communications skills was clearly emphasized.

  • Experience assisting emotional, difficult or confrontational people and individuals from varying socio/economic/cultural backgrounds. Typically requires one year of work experience assisting emotional, difficult or confrontational people.

  • Experience determining and explaining eligibility or qualifications for programs and services. Typically requires at least six months of work experience determining eligibility or qualifications for programs and services.

  • Experience preparing professional written communication. Typically requires six months of work experience preparing professional written communication, including the creation of letters and other correspondence OR six credit hours college coursework in related field.

  • Experience using computer applications. Typically requires six months of experience using computer applications, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Specialty Qualification:

  • Ability to effectively communicate in both Spanish and English. Applicants will be asked to complete a skills assessment test to confirm fluency.
