POSITION TITLE:FOOD SERVICE DELIVERY DRIVER\ LOCATION: Central Kitchen at Pocatello/Chubbuck School District Office

\ DAYS: Nine-month employment\ \ SALARY SCHEDULE: Rate of pay will be \$13.66\ \ START DATE: As soon as possible\ \ \ BENEFITS INFORMATION: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and Public Employee\'s Retirement are available to Classified employees who work at least half time (20 hours per week) or more in a regular position. This position is eligible for part time insurance only.\ \ Purpose of Class: Delivers food and supplies to assigned location; performs related work as required.

Primary Function: The principal function of an employee in this class is to deliver food and supplies to assigned locations per established schedule. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Food Service Coordinator/Purchaser. The principal duties of this class are performed in a warehouse and delivery truck setting which includes mechanical equipment and outdoor work. Early morning hours are required. Driving and working in inclement weather conditions may involve related hazards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (will vary by assignment)

  • Delivers food and supplies from to assigned schools, maintaining delivery schedule
  • Fills orders, loads and unloads products
  • Must acquire knowledge of products used
  • Notifies Assistant Coordinator/Purchaser of any damaged product or inappropriate stock levels, in relation to the warehouse inventory
  • Performs daily cleaning duties as assigned
  • Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with District policies, procedures, and safety practices.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fills in for other delivery and/or warehouse staff as needed
  • Delivers equipment to schools and/or pickup equipment at school and return to warehouse for storage as needed
  • Performs other related duties as required

Competency Requirements: Knowledge of:

  • District geography, including streets, and school locations
  • Basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing
  • Traffic laws
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Proper lifting and loading techniques

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Establish priorities and work within time constraints and deadlines
  • Safely operate a delivery box truck, electric and manual pallet jacks, hand cart, for lift, and pallet mover
  • Follow written and oral instructions
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations to fill orders correctly
  • Communicate effectively and establish working relationships with food service staff, other employees, administrators, and the public
  • Perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, and return to and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Work independently, with minimal supervision, and make appropriate decisions in the absence of a supervisor

Acceptable Experience and Training

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency is preferred; and
  • Valid Idaho Drivers License
  • Some commercial driving or delivery experience preferred
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform as an effective and competent food service delivery driver.
