Infinite Health Collaborative (iHealth) Health Unit Coordinator - Twin Cities Orthopedics in Plymouth, Minnesota

Description The Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for coordination of OR, surgery center schedule coordination and turn overs, patient flow, and data entry. This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday out of our Plymouth Orthopedic Surgery Center, our center hours are Monday-Friday 6am-5pm. Twin Cities Orthopedics is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare. Essential Functions: Responsible for answering phones in Pre-Op and Operating Room (OR) control desk and directing calls. Consistent communication with front desk staff, Pre-Op/PACU nursing staff, OR nursing staff, and Anesthesia. Coordinating patient suites in conjunction with nursing staff and/or charge nurse. Responsible for communication with patient's visitors, as needed. Responsible for requesting, printing and filing patients' Pre-Op history & physical. Responsible for prepping charts with appropriate orders, consents and prescription forms. Work cohesively with Health Information Management Specialist in gathering chart information for returning patients. Prepare Physician preference cards prior to surgery. Coordinate the OR schedule and communicate with surgeon's offices. Serve as central point of communication between OR staff, surgeons, and others. Communicate with Pre/Post staff when patients are entering the PACU. Communicate with external departments to review equipment on loan. Collaborates with other disciplines to maximize patient outcomes and ensure a smooth flow of the surgical experience. Accountable for reporting occurrences through the center's established reporting process related to employee and/or patient/visitor events. Fosters the developmental and educational process of self, colleagues, orientees and students (includes functioning as a preceptor). Participates in acceptable continuing education, fostering career and skill development including meeting departmental continuing education requirements. Assists in managing controllable costs by the proper, non-wasteful use of surgery center resources. Any and all other duties as assigned Education and Experience Requirements: High School diploma/GED or equivalent Completion of Health Unit Coordinator program, preferred. Medical terminology knowledge, preferred. Two years' experience in related field. Essential Requirements: Ability to: Comply with company policies, procedures, practices and business ethics guidelines. Complete job required training.
