Your Role: The Kidney Care R&D - Analytical Chemistry team currently has an opening for an experienced versatile Analytical Chemist who can be a senior analytical lead, direct and implement lab experiments in the Renal Care Solutions R&D chemistry lab. The successful candidate will effectively contribute solid technical knowledge to a variety of projects within the relevant subject area with minimal assistance and display technical understanding of related subject areas including: Implement strategies, which are non-routine within areas of expertise to address specific technical requirements of a project. Display a solid understanding of theories/practices used by other fields outside the primary area of expertise. Focus on innovation, process improvement, and/or operational excellence initiatives. Conduct research and design strategies to achieve the technical vision for a new or improved product/process/method or to prove a new theory, applying a solid understanding of theories/practices including those from other fields outside the primary area of expertise. Direct other analytical chemists in the interpretation of project results. What you'll be doing Supply technical knowledge to a variety of projects within the relevant subject area with minimal assistance. Act as a study director, design and implement method development, validation, and transfer studies including authorship of protocols and reports, by incorporating input from various subject matter experts. Collaborate with other functions such as project management, regulatory, extractables, manufacturing and quality in project teams. Conduct analytical problem-solving efforts to meet business needs. Participate in investigations that correspond to atypical or out-of-specification/out-of-trend results. Create, update, and maintain equipment and analytical procedures. Appropriately prioritize assignments to meet project schedules. Transfer analytical methods to manufacturing plants, CRO and other R&D centers. Maintain knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements related to R&D (product development, design and safety) to ensure compliance in all research, data collection and reporting activities. Champion internal initiatives that advance operational excellence. Implement new or improved techniques and procedures around specific tasks; write and implement SOP's. Share research outcomes, methodology and cycle-time reduction methods with team members and other divisional personnel. Maintain current knowledge of relevant Quality System Regulations and other regulatory requirements related to research and development (product development, design and safety) to ensure compliance in all research, data collection and reporting activities. Coach team members in areas of expertise. What you will bring: Experience with analytical method development, validation and transfers. A good understanding of ICH, USP guidelines and cGxP practice. Expertise and hands-on experience with some combination of: ICP-MS, ICP-OES, IC, AA, UHPLC/HPLC, GC, UV, Polarimeter, (NMR a plus) and other analytical instruments and software (Open Lab, ELN, Empower). A ility to learn quickly and to solve problems in a timely manner using analytical chemistry skills. Ability to design experiments and draw meaningful conclusions from lab data in addition to critically review peers' work. Understand data management, and data migration. Familiarity with laboratory start-up Demonstrates flexibility and can shift gears comfortably. Works well in a team environment and demonstrates an inclusive attitude and embraces diversity and inclusion, values differences. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years; Master's Degree with 3+ years of experience, or PhD with 2+ year's experience in chemistry. Analytical lab experience, cGxP experience, cross-functional teamwork, and independent experimentation in method development and validation. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $104,000 to $143,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
