Job Description

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the Paxit automated Packaging and Dispensing equipment, the fulfillment of bulk prescriptions, and the staging of all finished items for shipment to our customers. This position will also assist in other areas of the facility as needed with regards to pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Paxit automated packaging and dispensing equipment.

  • Fulfill bulk prescriptions accurately and efficiently.

  • Stage finished items for shipment to customers.

  • Assist in other areas such as manual compounding and stock management.

  • Load bulk empty medication packs into the automated machine.

  • Manage specialized bulk prescriptions through a smaller automated fill line.

  • Handle manual compounding of specialty prescriptions.

  • Stock and manage general medical products such as topicals and bandages.

  • Move individual bins to a staging area for shipment at 11 PM using dollies if needed.

Essential Skills/ Must Haves

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

  • Current State Pharmacy Certification (Michigan License required; temporary license acceptable).

  • Basic computer knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.

  • Math and analytical skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a retail or long-term care pharmacy.

  • Familiarity with drug codes and drug handling.

  • Fulfillment or compounding experience.

  • Ability to follow instructions and perform repetitive tasks.

Work Environment

This role is based in the fulfillment pharmacy at the back of the building, a closed-door long-term care pharmacy that serves numerous long-term care and nursing facilities. The work environment is similar to a clean manufacturing setting rather than a traditional pharmacy. The team consists of about 50 people across three shifts. The work is generally independent, but the team is friendly and help is always available if needed. The majority of shifts are on the second shift (4 PM - 12:30 AM) with some needs on the first (8 AM - 4:30 PM) and third shifts (12:00 AM - 8:30 AM). There is a $0.50 shift premium for second and third shifts and a $1.50 premium for weekends.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
