Job Description

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

The role is for the Oracle’s Business Intelligence product Oracle Analytics Publisher that provides the industry's most comprehensive reporting solution to author, manage, and deliver all your reports and documents easier and faster than traditional reporting tools.This role is to come up with creative and optimum solutions for issues encountered by the customers in their Cloud (SaaS & PaaS) & On-Premises environment. The scope of the solution extends from customer education, simple workarounds, configuration changes to making extensive code changes. These code changes may involve introducing new modules or even coming up with architectural changes in the product. It needs an architecture mindset to come up with the new idea which impacts our customers directly. It concentrates on business continuity and delivers engineering solutions and resolutions to production issues faced by customers.

The scope of the work spans the entire product life cycle from development to sustenance, deployment in cloud/on-premises and end user experience. One needs to participate in design reviews of new features in a supportability and maintainability advocate role. It requires continuous focus on innovation to propose and implement engineering solutions. These solutions need to be targeted towards what our customers need and should help ensure that our products are getting deployed successfully on the cloud, or within a customer's environment. It also revolves around building new diagnostic tools, which will help in debugging the customer issues faster and efficiently. This role enables an engineer to not only build a solution around a problem statement but also empowers them with the necessary skills to troubleshoot and triage a problem that requires analytic abilities and troubleshooting skills. The cloud releases are very frequent in nature, so we have very short cycles to build the product content, work with our QA teams to get this validated, and then deploy them on the Cloud. This allows the engineers to see the fruits of their effort instantly, which is a very satisfying experience. As part of this job, you will participate in challenging tasks like understanding the entire cloud stack. In all aspects of job responsibilities, you will be working as a member of a team dedicated to meeting the technical challenges of responding to real-world issues on highly complex systems. In addition to product knowledge, you will gain knowledge about cloud stack (SaaS & PaaS) as well as complex customer deployments.

This is a unique opportunity to work across the breadth of the company across teams including support, sales, devops, and a number of other development teams and architects. This will help the candidate build great networking skills and develop a more rounded and holistic view of the lifecycle events associated with Oracle Offerings on Cloud and on premises, adding the ability to engage necessary stakeholders while providing a solution at hand – from concept to delivery.

Responsibilities

Requirements:

BS/MS in Computer Science or related major

Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Extensive experience in using, building, debugging multithreaded applications

Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new technologies

Solid understanding of concurrency, multithreading and memory management

Hands-on development in Java, JavaBeans, JavaScript, JMS, HTML, CSS

Hands-on development in building and using REST and SOAP API’s

Knowledge in developing, implementing, and optimizing software algorithms

Strong knowledge of data structures and operating systems

Working understanding of SQL and relational databases design principles

Good understanding of XML and XSL/XSLT

Basic understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies

Strong written and verbal English interpersonal skills

Self-motivated and hard-working in developing high quality software

Strong Team Player

Other Qualifications:

Knowledge of Business Intelligence or Analytics

Familiarity with Cloud services such as OCI, AWS or Azure

Knowledge of Terraform/Python

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
