Your role at Clorox:

Cleaning Technical Services (Production Services) Packaging Lab Engineering Specialist delivers customer-oriented support, leadership of packaging changes (plant or lab), and technical knowledge results for Supply Chain packaging materials qualifications, cost savings, supply assurance, brand maintenance, product sustainability, finished product quality and product innovation.

A successful candidate for this role must be a motivated self-starter able to provide proactive technical leadership, hands-on packaging laboratory testing and leadership, and possible manufacturing plant support. Candidate must be capable of using and training new hires on Cleaning BU Clorox Pleasanton Campus lab packaging QA equipment and test methods.

Activities may include packaging material qualifications, data analysis, problem solving, root-cause analysis, packaging specifications maintenance, plant manufacturing qualification trials, and regulatory compliance adherence. This position provides technical leadership and communications with team resources at different organizational levels in Supply Chain, R&D, and manufacturing. This position must be able to influence and coordinate other resources to effectively help identify and solve problems while mitigating risks.

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct test methods for packaging materials and formula compatibility across Cleaning product family.

  • Test packaging components, run stability tests, and verify finished product meets specifications.

  • Master and train others on packaging lab QA equipment (CMM, OGP, Instron, vibration table, etc.).

  • Analyze, document, and communicate test results using Microsoft tools, Minitab, SPC, and QA programs.

  • Use problem-solving skills to develop hypotheses, design test plans, and analyze data. Implement good laboratory practices to maintain equipment and update test methods.

  • Support Quality Specialists in validating test methods and updating internal product data systems. Ensure safe execution of work in office, lab, or plant environments.

  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with internal/external standards and processes.

  • Document and provide final review/recommendation of lab test results to project teams.

  • Use digital tools to update product data and manage changes, ensuring decision-making accuracy.

  • Lead and train others in lab testing processes, while mentoring plant resources and engineers.

What we look for:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 5+ years of relevant technical experience, ideally in packaging technology or operations.

  • Hands-on experience in packaging material evaluation using analytical equipment in a lab setting.

  • Strong technical knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing operations, and packaging line equipment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database software like PLM.

  • Skilled in troubleshooting, validating testing methods, and driving process improvement.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate.

  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with a proactive, adaptable work style.

  • Industrial experience in consumer product companies (manufacturing, technical, or R&D) is preferred.

Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

–Zone A: $69,600 - $127,400

–Zone B: $63,800 - $116,800

–Zone C: $58,000 - $106,100

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
