Lab Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to operate and monitor production and seed fermenter growth, maintain daily records of all cultures and media, and conduct routine sterility checks. The ideal candidate will be proficient with laboratory equipment such as microscopes, centrifuges, pumps, and scales, and will perform various tasks related to bacterial culture growth and fermentation processes.
Responsibilities
Operate and monitor production and seed fermenter growth
Monitor seed flask growth
Maintain daily records of all cultures and media
Perform routine sterility checks according to batch record standards
Use laboratory equipment such as microscopes, centrifuges, pumps, and scales
Harvest bacterial cultures
Perform scale-up production of Leptospirae cultures
Conduct in-process sampling at interval stages of growth production
Perform weekly cleaning of the production rooms
Perform pre and post process cleaning of labs
Clean and disinfect lab equipment
Sterilize fermentation equipment
Prepare and sterilize media for bacteria growth
Assemble and sanitize concentration systems
Use hollow fiber concentration systems
Clean and sanitize concentration systems
Use other filtration systems
Essential Skills
Strong knowledge in Biology, Microbiology, and Bacteriology
Experience with aseptic techniques and sterilization processes
Proficiency with laboratory equipment and fermentation processes
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work independently
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Animal Science, or a related biotechnology degree preferred
Previous lab experience preferred
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficient in oral and written communications
Ability to adapt and be flexible in various situations
Intermediate ability with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Software, and E-mail
Proven ability to multi-task and be a self-starter
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and production process problems
Ability to perform aseptic hand filling operations
Ability to gown sterilely and use computerized inventory control systems
Work Environment
The position operates on a Monday - Friday schedule, from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. This is a 9-month contract to hire role. While on contract, you will receive 80 hours of PTO on an accrued basis and 6 paid holidays. The dress code is casual, but you will be required to wear a sterile gown/scrubs provided by the company. The lab environment can get warm, especially in the incubators where temperatures can reach 80 degrees. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally, prolonged standing, and performing repetitive motions. Candidates must also be able to wear personal safety protection and have eyesight correctable to 20/20.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $20.50/hr.
