The Research Foundation for SUNY, at Plattsburgh is pleased to announce the opening for the position of Services and Engagement Specialists for SUNY Plattsburghs TRIO Student Support Services. This position reports directly to the Director of TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program.

Introduction to TRIO Student Support Services:

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program at SUNY Plattsburgh serves eligible undergraduate students who are low-income, first-generation, and have a disability. SSS strives to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and resources to assist them in successfully navigating college, persisting from one year to the next, and earning a Bachelors degree to enter graduate school or the workforce. An emphasis is placed on financial literacy, career exploration, and personal development.

Introduction to the Position: The Services & Engagement Specialist plans and coordinates workshops and events, keeping students engaged and informed. The Services & Engagement Specialist maintains an advising caseload, provides academic coaching, and offers personalized support. The Services & Engagement Specialist organizes orientation programs, recruits, and trains student workers, and manages award ceremonies. Oversight of the TRIO SSS Peer Mentorship Program involves recruiting, interviewing, and training upperclassmen to mentor new students, fostering a supportive community, and ensuring effective mentormentee relationships. Additionally, the specialist leads the development of the TRIO SSS Student Advisory Council, assembling a group of students to provide input on program development and enhance student engagement. The Services & Engagement Specialist is responsible for meticulous record-keeping and data collection to track student progress and program effectiveness.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES Program Visibility Strategist Serves as the intake coordinator for all new TRIO Student Support Services Program students. Schedules initial intake meetings for new program participants. Identify initial academic needs and assign students to the appropriate program advisor. Make referrals to other SUNY Plattsburgh offices when necessary. Plans and executes New Student Program Orientation for new TRIO Student Support Services students. Recruit students for the TRIO SSS Peer Mentor Program. Attends open houses and other events to increase campus awareness of the TRIO SSS program. Assist the program director with planning and executing the fall and spring TRIO SSS Award ceremonies. Manage TRIO SSS social media pages with relevant information for program participants.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of ARGOS, Banner, Slate, and/or Starfish. Understands the experiences of historically marginalized groups in the U.S. in education, particularly students with disabilities, BIPOC, low-income, and firstgeneration students. Three (3) years of relevant experience preferred. Education and experience requirements described may be satisfied with an equivalent combination of both education and experience.
