Job Description:

Responsible for maximizing the value for a product. Defines the vision and roadmap for the product, defining and prioritizing stories in the product backlog, and articulating this to both stakeholders and the development team. Works closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, and with the Product Manager in a scaled Agile model to ensure there is alignment. Is experienced in the role of a Product Owner, expert of the product, and has a deep understanding of the business or technology domain. Creates the vision and roadmap for the product to align with strategic direction for the business or technology domain. Communicates the product vision and roadmap to stakeholders and the team, and drives user adoption. Collaborates with stakeholders to understand their needs, problems, and aligns them on priorities. Creates and prioritizes work for 1-2 teams. Experienced with cross-functional teams. Creates and prioritizes stories in the product backlog. Refines stories with the team to ensure there are enough ready stories to load the next 1-2 sprints. Reviews and accepts stories and is empowered to make on-the-spot decisions on scope and requirements. Works in partnership with the team to ensure that optimum value is obtained through technology and through an advanced understanding of the business. Mentors less experienced Product Owners. Individual contributor. The position in uniquely geared to managing an application that is used to deliver network devices globally at scale. The candidate should have extensive network experience and also reasonable knowledge of software and code methods and procedures as well as Agile and organizational skills. These skills are required to be able to effectively understand the product, the LOB demands and the developers tasks.

Position Summary

The Application Product Owner will be responsible for managing the development and lifecycle of our software applications. This role involves defining the product vision, gathering, and prioritizing requirements, and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet customer needs and business objectives. The position in uniquely geared to managing an application that is used to deliver network devices globally at scale. The candidate should have extensive network experience and also reasonable knowledge of software and code methods and procedures as well as Agile and organizational skills. These skills are required to be able to effectively understand the product, the LOB demands and the developers tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Product Vision and Strategy:

  • Define and communicate the product vision and strategy for software applications.

  • Develop and maintain the product roadmap, aligning with business goals and customer needs.

  • Prioritize product features and enhancements based on team SME’s, customer/stakeholder feedback and business value inputs.

  • Requirements Gathering:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including customers, business analysts, and development teams, to gather and document detailed product requirements.

  • Create and manage user stories, acceptance criteria, and product backlogs alongside Scrum Master.

  • Ensure that requirements are well-defined and understood by all team members.

  • Development Oversight:

  • Work closely with the development team to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of product features.

  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Make decisions on product functionality and scope changes during the development process.

  • Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders regarding product status, updates, and changes.

  • Communicate product progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders.

  • Gather and incorporate feedback from stakeholders into the product development process.

  • Participate in relevant group wide intake process.

  • Develop and maintain intake process for team.

  • Quality Assurance:

  • Collaborate with team to ensure thorough testing of product features.

  • Validate that delivered features meet acceptance criteria and business requirements.

  • Drive the resolution of any issues or bugs identified during testing.

  • Product Launch and Adoption:

  • Plan and coordinate product launches, including team and stakeholder updates, training, and support activities.

  • Monitor product performance and user adoption post-launch.

  • Gather and analyze user feedback to inform future product enhancements.

Required Qualifications

  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Experience:

  • 10 years Network Engineering experience .

  • 5 years coding experience

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role in software product management (3+ years).

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and working in Agile development environments.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Proficiency with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira,).

  • Familiarity with basic programming concepts and technologies. (Python, Java, Ansible)

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar Agile certification.

  • Experience with user experience (UX) design principles.

  • Background in a specific industry relevant to the application’s domain (e.g., finance, healthcare, e-commerce).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
