As a Lead Credit Officer on the Banks and Broker Dealers team, you will leverage your analytical abilities and industry knowledge to make and support credit decisions for a diverse portfolio of clients. You will manage exposure to a variety of financial institutions, demonstrate sound credit judgement, and build strong relationships across the firm.
Job Responsibilities
Manage exposure to a client base consisting of North American Banks, Broker Dealers, Fintechs, Credit Unions, Card Processors, and other financial institutions
Lead due diligence, evaluate and action credit requests, risk grading, and on-going monitoring and management of a diverse portfolio of risk including traditional credit products, markets products (derivatives, trading, and financing), intraday liquidity facilities, and other credit exposures
Demonstrate sound credit judgement and effective risk monitoring through collaboration across multiple lines of business and credit teams
Manage the daily risk demands of a portfolio of clients, evaluating and executing on a variety of transactions for financial institutions
Oversee transaction execution, including client analysis, preparation of credit approval materials, lead discussions with bankers, legal documentation negotiation, setup of credit facilities and ongoing monitoring of clients post transaction approval
Build strong relationships and maintain open communication channels with colleagues across the firm, including bankers, operations, legal, and finance
Monitor clients and update key stakeholders on important developments with regard to clients or industry and potential impact on credit rating
Stay informed about the evolving economic, legislative, and regulatory environment that impacts the financial institution sector
Provide leadership and input into key projects and contribute to process and efficiency improvement initiatives
Train and mentor the team's junior credit officers, fostering their development and growth
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
Bachelor's Degree
7+ years of credit or market risk experience within financial services
Knowledge of financial institutions
Knowledge of accounting and ability to financial statements analysis
Strong understanding of financial products, corporate finance and market dynamics
Experience negotiating loan and trading documents
Strong interest in client interaction and possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform well under pressure in a demanding environment
Candidate should be highly proficient in Excel, Powerpoint and Word

- Experience in wholesale credit risk and/or financial institution groups
