This position is based in Plano, TX, with a hybrid mix of some in-office time and some remote work.

Who we’re looking for

The National Manager, Data Engineering – Data Modeling & Data Product Development will be responsible for managing a team of data modelers, data architects & data engineers specifically focused on building the tools and frameworks necessary to make our data teams more efficient and effective.

Key responsibilities include

  • Lead multiple large and complex initiatives across Toyota Financial Services data engineering with a specific focus on data modeling, data architecture, and data tool & product development.

  • Establish a clear vision and direction for data tooling for data engineers, software engineers, and our analytic teams.

  • Enable our data engineering teams by developing tools and frameworks to streamline and accelerate the development of data pipelines and data solutions.

  • Support our global partners by developing flexible solutions and platforms that can be used within Toyota Financial Services but also in partner organization in other countries.

  • Own the Enterprise data model and data modeling standards for both data engineering and software engineering teams.

  • Develop and implement a data modeling strategy that supports both realtime and batch data needs for analytics, data science, and applications.

  • Drive collaboration with the Enterprise architecture team on data architecture and represent data to that team by ensuring critical issues are covered by Enterprise architecture.

  • Oversee the development of integrated solutions across Toyota Financial Services data engineering by ensuring the right engineering practices and outcomes.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent degree or work experience

  • Progressive work experience in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field or demonstrated expertise

  • Deep development experience in distributed, analytical, cloud-based and open-source technologies

  • Extensive programming experience in Python and/or Java, SQL

  • Extensive experience coding and implementing data pipelines in cloud-based data infrastructure, analytical and no-SQL databases (AWS, Snowflake, MongoDB, Postgres)

  • Broad, practical experience and application of multiple, different data modeling techniques such as data vault and dimensional modeling across Enterprise domains

  • Broad experience with cloud based services such as AWS, Azure or GCP or equivalent certification

  • Broad experience with docker and containerization

  • Experience with multiple database technologies including both SQL and NOSQL databases

  • Experience leading multiple development teams and senior engineers.

  • Ability to develop and mentor both junior and senior engineers.

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving skills with the ability to drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

  • Experience working in IT delivery and managing cross functional testing teams.

  • Experience driving and leading change across a large organization.

Bonus if you have

  • Post-Graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science or Equivalent Degree or work experience

  • Experience in the Financial Services industry.

  • Experience in leading large, complex initiatives across multiple technical disciplines.

  • Ability to manage a large budget successfully.
