Baylor Scott & White Health Finance Intern (Student) - Spring Semester in Plano, Texas

Role is designed for Juniors or Seniors who can dedicate a full Spring Semester (2025) to intern with Baylor Scott and White. We are targeting candidates who want exposure to the inner workings of healthcare finance. We are targeting candidates local to the Plano location (or don't need relocation/travel accommodations). You could opt for night classes or virtual classes while interning, but the internship schedule would be traditional office hours, Monday-Friday onsite at the Plano campus.

There is an additional internship in the Ft. Worth area if that location is better. This is a paid internship $16-24/hr. We hope to have Offers to candidates by late October so you can make adjustments for Spring Semester.

JOB SUMMARY

The Intern, with an emphasis on learning, and under supervision, performs administrative and function-specific activities while working side-by-side with team members in their area. This role will generally be exposed to multiple facets of functional operations and be involved in projects supporting departmental needs and developmental objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

Provides functional-area support in accordance with instructions and established procedures.

Gains knowledge and experience as projects are assigned and completed.

Learns to anticipate or identify problems and proactively works to solve them.

Uses meetings and trainings as an opportunity to learn how to function successfully in the department.

As needed, asks clarifying questions and communicates promptly and effectively with others.

DAY-TO-DAY

Assists in annual forecasting/budgeting process

Assists in monthly financial reporting and ad hoc reporting

Supports finance team in departmental financial reviews. Works with department leaders to ensure adherence to budget, identify gaps, and propose solutions to resolve.

Prepares profit and loss models for new products or services.

Assists in preparation and submission of statistical and productivity reports.

Supports accounting team to ensure month end is reported accurately.

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Power BI is a plus..

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent (Junior or Senior Level College Student)

  • EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
