The Associate Director, Instruments & Lighting Marketing role will have end-to-end ownership of our Instruments & Lighting Franchise. They are responsible for category performance and will provide strong cross-functional leadership to improve both revenue and profitability. This includes identifying new systems and product improvement opportunities and leading them through execution to commercial launch. Strong collaboration with field sales, R&D and supply chain is required, among other functions.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Business Planning & Execution: Develops and executes impactful strategic business plans, marketing plans, and product launches, including promotional planning, customer targeting, pricing strategy, sales forecasting, inventory allocation, and sales force/surgeon product training. Leads in the orchestration of solutions to drive growth and ensures the achievement of top-line revenue, while also positively impacting gross margins.

  • Innovation & Portfolio Management: Sets direction in building and executing robust organic & inorganic innovation pipelines and product roadmaps, inclusive of front-end, stage gate deliverables, post-launch support, and life-cycle management; strongly advocates for new projects.

  • Customer Insights & Analytics: Leads market research activities, utilizing tools and methodologies to understand customer needs, generate deep insights, and support decision making.

  • Brand Strategy: serves as the subject matter expert for the category and builds robust marketing plans with strong value propositions, targeting, segmentation, positioning, and messaging development.

  • Strong Collaboration: Delivers results through collaboration with key business partners including field sales, country marketing teams, product development, finance, regulatory, clinical/medical affairs, business development and others; demonstrates strong relationship building with surgeon/KOL partners.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS college degree required; Advanced Degree and/or MBA strongly preferred.

  • 12+ years of total work experience required; 8+ years-experience in marketing and/or commercial functions within medical device or healthcare-related fields is required.

  • Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to bring structure and process to vaguely defined problems is required.

  • Strong project management, written communications, verbal, and presentation skills are required.

  • Must be highly collaborative, with a proven ability to lead, operate and influence cross-functionally and to influence without authority.

  • Demonstrated experience with market research methodologies with healthcare stakeholders, including Voice of Customer interviews and outcomes-driven-innovation is strongly preferred.

  • Prior people management experience preferred, with proven record of managing and developing employees, directly or indirectly.

  • Prior global and/or international experience preferred.
