Temporary Research Assistant

 

This position is at the Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC), a multi-disciplinary center for research to advance the science of learning by bringing together leading researchers in the cognitive, social, and educational sciences.

 

The Understanding Development in Diverse Contexts (UDDC) Lab in the Department of Psychology is seeking a project and research assistant. The UDDC Lab investigates how race/ethnicity and socioeconomic status intersect to shape children's development and the contexts they grow up in. The UDDC Lab is looking for a project and research assistant with advanced skills in research and project support commensurate with at least one year of research assistant experience in a social/behavioral sciences lab. The team member will assist with the research enterprise at multiple levels in the UDDC Lab, including data analysis, study coordination, and administrative tasks. Under the guidance and supervision of the lab's faculty mentor and lab manager, the team member's responsibilities may include data collection via interviews, focus groups, and survey administration; qualitative and/or quantitative data coding and analysis; background research to support project and proposal development; and other research and administrative support (e.g., conducting systematic searches of bibliographic databases and compiling annotated bibliographies, citation management, participant recruitment and scheduling, data entry and database management).

Job Requirements: Knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods demonstrated by relevant lab experience/coursework Experience using software for quantitative data analysis (e.g., R, SPSS, Stata) Experience using software for qualitative data analysis (e.g., NVivo) Strong oral and written communication skills Meticulous attention to detail Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask and work successfully in a team environment Ability to work independently as well as to seek support when necessary Proficiency with MS Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Experience with Google Workspace (e.g., Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms)
