Purpose:
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will conduct and document complex financial analysis projects, providing critical insights that drive strategic decision-making. This position will be based out of the US Steel Tower in Pittsburgh, PA.
Key Responsibilities:
Budget Management: Compile, consolidate, and review all business unit budgets for accuracy and reasonableness, leveraging your knowledge of key operational elements.
Financial Reporting: Develop comprehensive financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analyses.
Advanced Analysis: Perform complex statistical, cost, and financial analysis on reported and projected results.
GAAP Compliance: Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Operational Insight: Gain deep knowledge of UPMC's diverse operations and systems.
System Utilization: Utilize the PeopleSoft General Ledger / Financial Reporting system to meet reporting and operational requirements, managing key reports for senior management.
Data Interpretation: Analyze complex financial data, extract and define relevant information, and interpret data to determine past financial performance and project future financial probabilities.
Budget Adjustments: Recommend budget adjustments and identify performance improvement opportunities.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis to establish guidelines, deadlines, and procedures for the annual corporate-wide budget process and weekly financial forecasting.
Metric Development: Analyze financial impacts and assist in the development and enhancement of key metrics.
Executive Interaction: Communicate and interact with various levels of UPMC personnel, including senior executive management, on a consistent basis.
Presentation: Interpret financial transactions and prepare comprehensive analyses for presentation to decision-makers.
Accuracy Under Pressure: Perform under tight deadlines with minimal to no errors.
Mentorship: Act as a mentor or manager for Financial Analysts or administrative staff.
Cost Studies: Plan and conduct complex studies to determine the cost of business activities, recommending budget adjustments and other cost improvement measures.
Budget Coordination: Oversee and assist in coordinating the UPMC system-wide budgeting process.

Bachelor's degree in finance or related business field.
Minimum of three years of related work experience required
OR High School Diploma/GED and five years of related work experience.
Demonstrated expertise in forecasting financial operations and budgeting experience required.
CPA/MBA preferred.
Ability to interact effectively with executives and business unit management.
Excellent oral and written communications and time management skills are required.
Strong analytical ability and knowledge of accounting and financial reporting matters.
Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint proficiency required.
PeopleSoft General Ledger proficiency preferred.
Knowledge of system operations preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: CPA/MBA certificate preferred.
