Sheet Metal Worker Job Summary

Required to be knowledgeable in all facets of sheet metal work including; welding, layout and design of duct systems, air balancing, and working on large fans and fabricating duct systems. Work will require the maintenance and renovation of existing air handling equipment as well as installing new air handling equipment. Measures and assesses problems in the field, find solutions, and shop fabricate. Must be organized, possess good communication skills, and maintain an exceptional work ethic. Builds rapport with the customer and discuss the requirements of the job. Works independently or alongside all applicable personnel in a professional manner. Works unsupervised, plus perform the job required in a timely and craftsman like fashion. Must be able to work in adverse conditions. These conditions can include confined spaces, extreme heights, damp and humid areas, as well as hot or cold conditions. Required to follow departmental and OSHA safety guidelines when operating departmental/University equipment. May be required to submit to Tuberculosis (TB) testing every six months.

Essential Functions

Sheet Metal work includes, but is not limited to: welding, layout and design of duct systems, air balancing, working on large fan systems. Must be able to work off ladders at great heights. Must be able to fabricate duct systems and have knowledge and experience with shop tools.
