Howmet Aerospace Senior Manager, Oracle Technologies in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Howmet Aerospace is currently in search of a Senior Manager, Oracle Technology to join the Global Information Systems Infrastructure group in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Senior Manager, Oracle Technology role is responsible for the leadership, strategic direction and architectural guidance of Howmet Aerospace’s Oracle Database and Middleware technologies. The successful candidate will have experience to operate as a thought leader in the Oracle Technology space and will participate in designing effective and strategically aligned technology solutions. The successful candidate will have the leadership skills to ensure that these solutions are effectively deployed and maintained. They will work with various levels of leadership and within established standards to successfully design, develop, and implement innovative solutions throughout Howmet Aerospace’s Oracle technical stack.

This role will oversee the daily operations of Howmet Aerospace’s Oracle Database and Middleware operations and will also be responsible for the management of incident and problem response, SLAs, patching and lifecycle management of the organization’s Oracle technical stack.

Responsibilities/Major Activities:

  • Work with offshore staff to ensure reliable and effective development and operational support for Howmet Aerospace’s Oracle environment

  • Lead proactive monitoring, tracking and reporting efforts as well as ongoing process and system improvements in the Oracle space

  • Responsible for ensuring that Oracle platform remains compliant with internal and external process and regulatory requirements

  • Management of pertinent SLAs within key metrics

  • Lead Sev.1 and Sev.2 problem/incident management and escalation in the Oracle space

  • Analyze changes to the current environment to ensure that current architecture can support the change

  • Analyze changes to the capacity plan to ensure that the future Oracle architecture will meet requirements

  • Maintain an in-depth awareness of Oracle technologies, roadmaps, and development activities. Help identify the organization’s cloud strategy and identify opportunities presented in the realm of Oracle technologies

  • Develop forward technical vision and strategy for the company’s Oracle platform

  • Create, modify, and store architectural artifacts for new projects wherever necessary for future reuse, leadership review, etc.

  • Lead DR testing within the Oracle space as well as maintain the capability to devise new DR procedures where necessary

  • Collaborate with our central software team for Oracle License management

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience designing and leading the deployment of multi-tiered technology solutions that align with requirements and strategic direction

  • Experience with design and architecture review

  • Experience with the software development lifecycle

  • Experience with IT governance and change management

  • Large project management experience and demonstrated understanding of project management processes, methodologies, and techniques

  • Experience with Office suite, especially Excel, pivot tables, etc.

  • Leadership experience, either managing technology related projects or managing small teams

  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintain solid relationships with internal and external customers, vendors, and other IT professionals

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to drive consensus and absorb and present complex ideas in a succinct and accurate manner

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Self-motivated, problem solving oriented with keen attention to detail and excellent judgment skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with a minimum of 8 years of IT experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in more than one of the following Oracle Technologies: Oracle Database, Web Logic, Fusion Middleware

  • Experience working within the Linux Operating System

  • SQL experience

  • Familiarity with Oracle E-business suite

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of Hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's OR Bachelor’s degree in information sciences, information technology, or computer science

  • Familiarity with RMAN

  • Shell scripting experience

  • Knowledge of Windows Server environments

  • Knowledge of data center and infrastructure environment

  • Familiarity with Commvault

  • Familiarity with Data Guard

  • Database/Server consolidation experience

  • Working knowledge of ITIL

Salary Range: $130k - $155k/year approximation (actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
