The OHR Talent Acquisition team is searching for a recruiter to join our team in early February 2025 and help us attract, find, and place talented diverse individuals within our world-class institution.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Talent Acquisition you will be part of a team that provides strategic end-to-end talent acquisition services that have a transformative impact on the university's ability to achieve its mission and vision. The mission of the Talent Acquisition team at Carnegie Mellon University is to drive efficient, effective hiring practices that allow us to attract, source, and select diverse, world-class talent.
As a member of our team, you will be responsible for performing full-cycle recruitment activities and support for the College of Engineering. This requires strong consultative and collaboration skills to build, sustain, and influence close working relationships with hiring managers, administration, HR Business Partners, and other external partners.
Core responsibilities include: Acting as a partner and advisor to hiring managers to create and implement strategies to source and recruit top talent for a variety of staff positions Managing the full cycle recruiting process (Creation of position descriptions, job advertisements, sourcing, screening, interviewing, maintaining applicant tracking information, uniting references, negotiating compensation and extending, preparing offer letters, initiation of pre-employment background checks, etc.) Performing candidate management and hiring transactions in the Applicant Tracking system (Workday) Ensuring you are providing a seamless, transparent, and positive hiring experience Collaborating with hiring managers to understand their requirements and hiring goals Applying creative sourcing techniques to find passive candidates and build a diverse pipeline of candidates to consider Screening resumes and interviewing qualified candidates Maintaining reports and performance metrics regularly to monitor recruiting activity and trends Ensuring consistent and equitable application of HR policies and government regulations throughout the division by advising supervisors as deemed appropriate Developing and maintaining congenial, professional working relationships with division leadership and partners Facilitating training on recruiting best practices Reviewing and analyzing data to evaluate the effectiveness of existing HR processes and making recommendations for improvements or actions as appropriate Working on strategic projects to contribute to the overall success of the division Staying current on the best HR practices through self-directed professional reading; developing professional contacts with colleagues; participating in local, state, and national professional associations; and attending professional development programs Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, communications, psychology, or related field.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of human resources experience, with at least one (1) year supporting recruiting-related activities is required.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume, matrixed organization with varied business units and decentralized processes Experience successfully demonstrating an ability to manage high-requisition volume without impacting the hiring experience Familiarity with work authorization documentation and immigration services processes Workday recruiting experience PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP AIRS Certified Diversity and Inclusion Recruiter

Additional Information: This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week), exempt position based in Pittsburgh, PA. Work Posture:This position is currently operating on a hybrid schedule, with an on-campus/in-office presence 3 days a week, 2 days remote (within the Greater Pittsburgh region). Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity. Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon.
