CTG Lab Technician in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

CTG is seeking to fill a Lab Technician opening for our client in Pittsburgh, PA.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Duration: 12 months

Overview:

For Specialty Films North America, this position is responsible for supporting the operation of an optical laboratory within the holographic light guiding application development group. The position will perform application development support, customer technical support, and documentation while assisting in lab maintenance and upkeep.

Duties:

  • Create and/or measure samples using basic optical metrology techniques, develop and implement measurement methods to support application development in customer projects.

  • Design, construction, and maintenance of complex optical instruments required for the evaluation of product properties and to support customer projects. This can include assembly of optical bench systems using optomechanical components, motion control stages, polarization optics, and imaging cameras.

  • Work with/operate optical test equipment, including power meters, photodiodes, detectors, interferometers, wavefront sensors, spectrometers, and beam profilers.

  • Analyze data and effectively communicate results through technical reports and presentations to supervisor and team members.

  • Extend and apply specialized expertise, also by exchange with internal and external partners, to support business development.

  • Support the upkeep, maintenance, and improvement (where possible) of equipment in the Pittsburgh holography laboratories.

  • Documentation of SOPs, experimental set-up and results.

  • Maintain appropriate logs/notebooks and other records including computer documents.

  • Understand and follow EHS, SOPs and Responsible Care rules, regulations and guidelines maintaining a safe work Environment.

Experience:

  • Experience using data analysis tools, documenting experimental results, maintaining technical documentation.

  • Experience with optical test equipment, including power meters, photodiodes, detectors, interferometers, wavefront sensors, spectrometers, and beam profilers preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical focus area with 3 years of relevant experience preferably in a laboratory/testing environment.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
