GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for leading the organization's donor relations program. It will create, implement and manage a comprehensive donor relations plan. The scope of work includes donor relations, stewardship, events, giving societies and related communications. This job will also coordinate annual giving, communication and donor relations initiatives to (1) maximize unrestricted and current use revenue (2) serve as project manager on the annual fund appeals, employee giving campaigns, salon style and signature events, and the grateful patient program, which supports increasing donor acquisition, and renewal and upgrading of donors (3) supports strengthening the relationships between AHN and its donors through the coordination of custom stewardship opportunities, including personalized acknowledgements, donor recognition opportunities, implementation of acknowledgement letters and pledge reminders, and communication with internal and external constituents. These efforts include establishing strong relationships with internal clients, team members and vendors to execute on the project management of multi-channel methods of communication such as direct mail, electronic, personal visits, phone, and special events.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops, implements, and leads a successful and integrated donor relations program that strategically targets all levels of giving as defined by the development team. Ensures donors are acknowledged and recognized to strengthen their financial support for AHN. (20%)

  • Acts as a liaison and specialist to advancement personnel to provide cultivation and stewardship assistance to individual donors and prospects. (20%)

  • Oversees and directs the development and implementation of strategic communications in multiple mediums in a timely fashion. This will include, but not be limited to, social media sites, Annual Report to Donors, e-blasts, year-end-reminders, fund reports, gift acknowledgements, web pages, invitations, newsletter updates, fundraising campaign materials, and press releases. (10%)

  • Ensures special events are communicated and on the calendar of appropriate officials and targeted guests. (10%)

  • Creates innovative programs and projects to thank and steward donors; ensures the external reporting to donors on funds. 6. Manages and coordinates any campaign-related kick-offs and celebration events. (10%)

  • Tracks donor relations and stewardship activities in the established databases to enhance relationships and increase the likelihood of continued contributions. (10%)

  • Responsible for the review and control of all gift acknowledgments, including receipts, thank you letters, pledge statements and fund reports. (10%)

  • Works closely with development staff to report to donors on the use of gifts, to arrange meetings between donors and beneficiaries if appropriate, and to help celebrate gifts. (10%)

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Q UALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, Marketing, Nonprofit or related fieldor relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree.

  • 5 years of experience in fundraising or constituent relations with an educational institution or non-profit

Preferred

  • 3 years of experience in stewarding and cultivating donors and alumni

  • 3 years of experience in producing marketing pieces, including web-based communiqués and social media.

SKILLS:

  • Results oriented with skills in project management, organization, planning and attention to detail.

  • Creative thinker with excellent analytical, problem-solving and customer service skills.

  • Strong communication, written and verbal and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with nonprofit funding and associated grant-making.

  • Flexible, responsive, and collaborative work style with a strong service mentality.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel.
