Director of Patient Services

 

The Director of Patient Services serves as the practice manager for the dental clinics of the School of Dental Medicine, reporting to the Director of Quality Assessment and Improvement Position is directly or indirectly responsible end-to-end for all administrative aspects of operating the clinics, including front of house (direct patient contact functions), back of house (insurance, patient billing, collections), risk and quality management, and financial management. Leads a staff of approximately 45 professional and administrative staff charged with transforming and then maintaining clinical operations in support of three guiding principles: (1) to make patients feel as much as possible as if they are being treated at a private practice; (2) to free students to focus on learning and maximizing their patient care experience; and (3) to free faculty to focus on teaching students and overseeing patient care. Directs the clinic management team in monitoring, maintaining and where possible enhancing the quality, efficiency and fiscal soundness of all aspects of clinical operations, the satisfaction of clinic patients and the performance and morale of the staff.

Job Summary

Oversees all administrative aspects of operating the clinics, including direct patient contact and billing and financials.

Incumbent must be a good listener, unbiased, maintain credibility and confidentiality while displaying actions based on fairness and sound judgment.

Physical Effort

Minimal physical effort other than ability to use a computer, communicate with others (verbal and written), and move around all areas of the School of Dental Medicine for meetings, oversite of operations, patient consults, etc.
