System One Data Scientist in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Job Title: Data Scientist

Job Location: Pittsburgh, PA, Dallas, TX, Birmingham, Cleveland, OH or Phoenix, AZ

Job Duration – 6 months with possible extension

Job Summary:

The main function is to produce innovative solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets.

Job Responsibilities:

• Apply knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to prototype development and product improvement.

• Use a flexible, analytical approach to design, develop, and evaluate predictive models and advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the data.

• Generate and test hypotheses and analyze and interpret the results of product experiments.

• Work with product engineers to translate prototypes into new products, services, and features and provide guidelines for large-scale implementation.

• Provide Business Intelligence (BI) and data visualization support, which includes, but limited to support for the online customer service dashboards and other ad-hoc requests requiring data analysis and visual support.

Required Skills:

• Experienced in either programming languages such as Python and/or R, big data tools such as Hadoop, or data visualization tools such as Tableau.

• The ability to communicate effectively in writing, including conveying complex information and promoting in-depth engagement on course topics.

• Experience working with large datasets.

Education/Experience:

• Master of Science degree in computer science or in a relevant field or equivalent work experience required

• 3-5 years of relevant experience required.

Potential for Contract Extension: Possibility of extension/contract to hire

This position is contract with the right to hire if a need becomes available. Manager will only look at candidates that are open to converting to a full time PNC employee. PNC will not sponsor work visas if the decision is made to hire the contingent worker.

Industry background:

Technology background required, banking is a nice to have

CIAM - Customer Identity and Access Management required

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Establish standards for metrics & reporting for new & existing products and capabilities

  • Identifying requirements and data needed to build reports

  • Develop process to align with new projects/strategic initiatives intersecting with DI to capture requirements and build as part of the project.

  • Generate and test hypotheses and analyze & interpret the results of product experiments (What/If Analysis).

  • Seek to understand the Digital Identity Product data, the applicability of the data to create meaning and consumable visualizations that will be leveraged to drive business decisions.

  • Work with product engineers to translate prototypes into new products, services, and features and provide guidelines for large-scale implementation.

  • Pulling data to develop recurring or one-time reports

  • Building dashboards to support products

  • Maintaining databases, spreadsheets and other tools used in data analysis

  • Locating and fixing errors in reports

  • Training others on how to use and create reports

  • Create a backlog and roadmap of future DI metrics & reporting enhancements

  • Analyze data and reports to identify trends, issues, and performance improvements for capabilities

    Must Have Technical Skills:

  • Digital Identity, Authentication and Fraud Operations/Analytics

  • Hands on experience working with data visualization tools - e.g Tableau, Power BI, etc.

  • Hands on experience writing & executing queries and analyzing results across multiple platforms - Oracle, Hadoop, Teradata, etc

    Flex Skills/Nice to Have:

  • Business Case Development

  • Ability to define business value

  • Experience establishing objectives and key results

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python

  • Experience in defining and implementing platform operations & analytics model and framework

    Soft Skills:

    Strong Analytical skills, strong communication both written and verbal, able to communicate complex data sets effectively with multiple levels of stakeholders, good prioritization, ability to work with a team, strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, ability to work in a fast paced changing environment

    Preferred bachelor's degree in a technical field or relevant work experience

    Years of experience: Level 2 3-5 years
