Assistant Director-Research Administration

 

Excellent opportunity for an accomplished research administrator to direct the pre and post award functions of the department of surgery and all of its divisions. Candidate will oversee a large team of research administrators and a research portfolio in excess of $30 million dollars annually.

Job Summary

Manages purchasing, billing, grant and contract administration, invoices and expenses, grant budget proposals, vendor contracts, and pre- and post-award processing. Ensures compliance and assists with operational improvements. Acts as liaison to internal and external stakeholders, funding agencies, and auditors.

Essential Functions

Manages all pre and post award functions of a large team of research administrators. Manages,tracks, approves invoices and expenses, monitors accounts, resolves complex accounting issues. Directs the preparation of grant budget proposals, justifications, and all necessary documentation. Oversees vendor contracts, negotiations, reconciliations, and renewals.

Supervises staff, hiring, performance reviews, and other human resource administration; manages work schedules and approves timecards; provides professional development opportunities; distributes and reviews work. Manages pre- and post- award processing and documentation; prepares complex reports, financial statements, and projections.

Physical Effort

Mostly sedentary work at a computer. Attendance at meetings on and off campus as required. Walking around campus to meetings as necessary.
