The Role: The Application Engineering Specialist is a seasoned professional with expertise in a specific area of application development. Their role involves imparting deep technical knowledge, mentoring junior engineers, and actively contributing to critical projects.

Responsibilities:

• Subject Matter Expertise: Specialized knowledge in multiple domains (e.g., reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, ion exchange) and applications (e.g., UPW systems, industrial water reuse/recovery).

• Technical Consultation: Advise on complex technical challenges.

• Research and Development: Explore new technologies and tools.

• Quality Assurance: Review code and ensure adherence to standards.

• Training and Mentorship: Guide junior engineers.

• Drive Discovery:

  • Engage with sales, business developers, and customers to uncover and understand particular issues, needs, drivers, and constraints for assigned opportunities.

  • Become familiar with Xylem's product lines and offerings to guide stakeholders to solutions aligned with Xylem's strengths.

• Develop Cost-Effective Solutions through the use of product knowledge, process tools, engagement with other stakeholders, and judgment to evaluate multiple treatment alternatives and determine optimal solution for lowest total cost of ownership.

• Coordinate Matrixed Teams:

  • Foster a positive team culture and encourage collaboration.

  • Engage with sales, operations, project management, estimators, business developers, proposal coordinators, contract managers and others to verify a fully-vetted offering.

  • Identify critical path items and monitor/drive progress of deliverables from proposal team members to ensure timely completion of winning proposals for water treatment services.

• Adaptability and Problem-Solving:

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with at least 10 years experience or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts of water treatment.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Familiarity with water treatment methodologies.

• A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proficiency in office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Ability to coordinate the work of multi-disciplinary teams.

• Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Solid understanding of financial principals related to costing, business outcome, and risk mitigation.

• Conflict Resolution: Handle complex team dynamics.

• Innovation: Propose creative solutions.

• Proficiency in project management techniques

• Planning, Scheduling, Budgeting & Resource allocation

$91,500.00 - $164,500.00
