Aerotek Machine Operator II in PITTSBURG, California

Description:

As a Machine Operator candidates will be responsible for the current machine operation, They will be bundling steel after it comes off of the production line, placing it on carts, and moving it to the appropriate areas. They will also be responsible for helping maintain a clean working area with minimal debris and scrap metal from the lines.

Sometimes lines will go down, and these candidates will need to keep busy by finding other tasks such as sweeping, organizing, or assisting other employees as needed.

There are 11 production lines, and these are further broken down between technical and structural lines. Workers will work on either line as needed.

"Assist Machine Operator in the set ups/ changeovers of machine. Involving the removal and replacement of tooling rolls, cut off dies, punch dies, table spacers, die springs, excess materials left behind, die blades, shims, spacers, embossing stamps, unipunches.

Accumulate products as they exit from machine. Safely stack into standard company pallets by product.

Ability to learn and apply all the necessary packaging requirements. Writing pallet description on exterior of pallets, apply the necessary pallet stickers, spray paint gauge colors on pallet edges, safely operate banding machines to secure metal strapping and wood blocks to pallets.

Ability to learn and operate Jib crane in a safe and effective manner to maneuver slit coils onto the machine uncoilers.

Must have the knowledge and skills to read a tape measure and effectively apply to the following: Measure all product lengths, widths, heights, etc., for quality control purposes. Measure slit coils widths, ID, OD, for proper identification for weight calculations. Measure tooling roll spacers, knives, etc., for setups / changeovers assistance.

Ability to follow the Helper Housekeeping procedure daily at end of your shift.  Sweep up around the whole perimeter of your machine and/or work area.  Pick up all strapping, empty pop bottles, snack wrappers, debris, etc., around the machine perimeter and work bench surfaces.  All painted surfaces on machine and its necessary equipment must be wiped down of grease, dust, grime, etc.

Must have the ability to read, understand and apply all the safety practices within the CEMCO general safety rules manual in your daily activities.

Removes punch out bins from presses to a convenient location for forklift pick up and removal when full.

Safely operate the wood chop saws or wood radial arm saws to cut wood blocks to custom lengths.

Safely operate the metal cut off saws to cut up scrap or cut materials into custom lengths when needed.

With time must be capable of learning and applying many company standards to be an effective helper. Such as color codes and decimal reading for gauge identification, product package standards, basic visual and measurable quality control standards. Basic inventory control standards.

Assist with maintaining and acquiring all the necessary production supplies needed at the machine or work station. This is done in a fashion so they don’t run out and cause possible inefficiencies.

Assist with basic daily maintenance of machines and equipment; oiling, greasing, adding water, cleaning, blowing, spraying, adjusting, etc.

Safely removes all scrap from machine through out the day and places it in designated scrap bins.

May be required to work at special / specific work stations. Requiring the use of hand tools, screw guns, paint rollers, shop vacuums, razor knives, hammer, pressurized air, carts, dollies, brooms, mops, rags, spray bottles, etc.

Assist with the inline welding process. Which includes; spinning the uncoiler turn-stile for coil strip alignment, shearing off strip ends for square ness, clamping strips in position for welding, selecting proper ranges for weld quality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

-Open to experience (candidates will be trained on all procedures) Bilingual strongly preferred (Spanish) -High School Diploma/GED -Ability to stand for entire shift -Ability to push/pull/move/lift 40lbs -Must be open to working 1-2 hours of OT per day (If converted to permanent, must be open to working on Saturday's) -Be safety conscious -Strong initiative -Ability to perform basic addition and subtraction
