Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Staff Assistant - Federal Work Study Coordinator in Enrollment Services - Office of Financial Aid.The Staff Assistant coordinates the Federal Work-Study Program and the Federal Community Service Program, counsels students, and handles administrative duties for the Campus Director of Financial Aid. This position provides administrative assistance using BANNER Financial Aid Systems as well as the BANNER Human Resource System.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Oversees and coordinates the Federal Work-Study Program, including hiring, maintaining job descriptions and payroll reconciliation for eligible student employees.
  • Oversees and coordinates the Federal Work-Study Community Service Program.
  • Collects data for all reports mandated by the federal government, state of New Jersey, professional associations and the University.
  • Prepares and submits financial reports needed to monitor the programs and satisfy U.S. Department of Education compliance mandates.
  • Counsels students on job selection and placement.
  • Acts as a liaison with RBHS department supervisors regarding administrative requirements and job performance related to students.
  • Provides administrative support to the Campus Director of Financial Aid, including scheduling meetings, special projects, handling correspondence independently, and organizing seminars and programs for groups of students.
  • Uses the BANNER Financial Aid systems and the BANNER Human Resource system to provide support services and counseling to students.
  • Acts as a liaison with RBHS departments and outside agencies.
  • Participates in numerous committees both within and outside of the RBHS financial aid office. Participates in these committees in different capacities. When appropriate functions as the Chair of committees.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • One (1) year of professional experience in student financial aid.
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with networked mainframe and PC systems required.
