Description

Position Summary:

The Program Director oversees the daily operations, growth, and development of WestCare KY’s Rural Communities Opioid Response Program-Impact (RCORP-Impact) grant. This position serves as an active member of the state leadership team and provides supervision and coaching to program staff.

Essential Job Functions:

· Primary point of contact and leadership for the program.

· directs all day-to-day program activities.

· Makes staffing, financial, or other adjustments to align with program activities.

· Engages community members and key stakeholders to implement program activities.

· Must attend monthly calls with HRSA program staff and the HRSA-funded RCORP technical assistance team.

· Oversees the training, development, and supervision of all program staff.

· Creates and maintains a positive working environment where all staff feel valued.

· Develops staff work schedule and assigns daily responsibilities to achieve RCORP-Impact goals and meet program requirements.

· Maintains compliance with all licensing, permitting, and funding bodies.

· Ensures that all shift duties are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with WestCare procedure.

· Reviews each employee’s job performance on a yearly basis and makes recommendations regarding employee advancement and retention.

· Oversees all aspects of treatment for all program participants.

· Oversees intake and evaluation of individuals needing treatment services.

· Provides crisis intervention in accordance with WestCare policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

· Conducts regular staff meetings to ensure productivity and collaboration amongst program staff and offer coaching and/or training where needed.

· Gives direction during emergency situations that would necessitate intervention.

· Oversees facility compliance with health, fire, and other regulatory standards and bodies.

· Reviews all reports, forms, and admissions packets generated by the program to ensure accuracy and completeness.

· Assists other WestCare staff as needed to promote cooperation and portray a professional image to the community.

· Participants in Quality Improvement activities on an ongoing basis.

· Embraces and embodies the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision an goals of WestCare foundation.

· Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

Certifications/Licensures:

· A current Kentucky Certification as Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and in good standing as recognized by the Kentucky Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors.

· Valid Kentucky driver’s license.

Education:

· Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology or related field is preferred.

Experience and Competencies:

· Three (3) years of experience in supervising multiple employees.

· Two (2) years of experience in providing direct counseling services to persons with alcohol and/or drug problems is preferred;

· Intake and assessment experience is preferred;

· Marketing and/or sales experience preferred;

· Excellent communication skills;

· Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion;

· Ability to work well in a team environment;

· Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality;

· Professional appearance and demeanor;

· Must be culturally/linguistically sensitive to populations served;

· Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required;

· CPR Certification, First Aid Certification and an annual Tuberculosis test.

Working Conditions:

· Work is primarily performed in an office or residential treatment setting; and

· Some outdoor activities may be required.

The employee must be able to perform the following essential duties and activities with or

Physical Demands:

· Requires mobility and physical activity: Having an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office, residential, or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. Use of computer and telephone systems is required which includes coordination of eye and hand, and fine manipulation by the hands (typing, writing, and working with files). Requires the ability to defend oneself and clients in physically abusive situations through the use of approved physical de-escalation techniques.

· Requires talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is required to impart oral information to employees, clients, patients, and the public, and in those activities in which the employee is required to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.

· Requires hearing: Hearing is required to receive and communicate detailed information through oral communication.

· Requires seeing: Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and at distance. This factor is required to complete paperwork for many of the employee’s essential job functions and to observe client behavior and activities in and out of the facility.

· The normal work routine involves no exposure to human blood, body fluids or tissues. However, exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be readily available to every employee.

Mental Demands:

· Requires the ability to collect and analyze complex numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions.

· Requires the ability to work and cooperate with clients, co-workers, managers, the public and employees at all levels in order to exchange ideas, information, instructions and opinions.

· Requires the ability to work under stress and in emotionally charged settings.
