Wells Fargo Senior Infrastructure Engineer-Mainframe in PHOENIX, Arizona

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Sr. Infrastructure Engineer to join the Mainframe & Midrange Services (MMS) team to help support our Mainframe Capacity Planning & Performance engineering team. In this role, you will help support critical infrastructure for the zVM platform through performance monitoring and data analysis. This position will be a key resource within the MMS team which supports the Foundational Hosting Platform organization within the broader Chief Technology Office (CTO).

In this role, you will:

  • Lead or participate in high level technical concepts spanning technology and business

  • Develop specifications for complex infrastructure systems, design and test solutions

  • Contribute to the testing of business, application and technical infrastructure requirements

  • Drive solutions to reduce recovery

  • Review and analyze solutions for cloud security, secrets management and key rotations

  • Design, code, test, debug and document programs using Agile development practices

  • Design complex system upgrades

  • Resolve troublesome trends as they develop

  • Develop a long range plan designed to resolve problems and prevent them from recurring

  • Direct the daily risk and control flow of operations, focusing on policies, procedures and work standards to ensure success

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 3+ years of experience in a performance monitoring role (Mainframe preferred)

  • 1+ years Linux support experience and understanding under a hypervisor: z/VM

Desired Qualifications:

  • MICS and/or MXG Experience

  • 4+ years' experience on large z/IBM Systems - support via Operations, OS, Hardware, and Peripheral team support, Application services and management, or a demonstrated experience and track record as an integrated team member for support in a Mainframe environment

  • Experience with monitoring tools ( Omegamon/Tivoli - BMC Mainview - Broadcom suite of tools supporting Z systems, Velocity, Splunk/Elastic )

  • Experience with Z systems use of Endevor, scheduler-CA7, NDM, JES, Strobe, APA, File Manager, ISMF, DF*/IBM products like DFHSM, IBM Batch process Utilities, Sort, WLM - workload manager

  • Conceptual understanding of planning for large systems resources (CPU, Memory, I/O, Storage) from a Box/LPAR perspective to componentry like CICS Transaction, DB2 Plan and DDF, MQ Channel/Queue, IMS I/O and internal processes, Batch processes - Macro to Micro views for Capacity and supporting Performance perspectives at detail from monitor and long term sources

  • Familiarity with Ansible, GitHub, Docker, and modern container technology

Job Expectations:
