Focus: Build & maintain AI/ML models to solve business problems. Develop scripts to integrate those models into application flow. Maintain excellent documentation.

American Express is looking for an energetic, impactful senior AI/ML engineer to help shape our technology and product roadmap. You will be part of the fast-paced team that enables AI/ML based solutions using ground-breaking technologies to deliver innovative solutions across multiple lines of business.

Responsibilities

  • Combine Data Science and Engineering skills to solve interesting problems that directly and greatly impact our business processes.

  • 50% of the time spent on coding and/or hands-on implementation of AI/ML solutions.

  • Be able to understand and abide by model development standards and support governance review, internal and external audits.

  • Performing all development for assigned applications including architecture, design, developing prototypes, writing new code and API's and performing unit and assembly testing of developed software as needed.

  • Conduct code and architectural reviews and guide the team in designing and developing products with quality consistently.

  • Network with other AI/ML teams in the company and exchange standard processes.

  • Enabling the deployment, support, and monitoring of AI/ML models and supporting software across test, integration, and production environments.

  • Help craft the direction of machine learning and artificial intelligence at AmEx.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics or related fields.

  • 10 years experience with the following technologies:

  • Python/JAVA

  • Big Data – Spark/Hive/Hbase

  • SQL/ NoSQL

  • REST API and services

  • Experience with popular Machine Learning technologies such as ScikitLearn, TensorFlow, Kera etc

  • Strong experience in specialized areas such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP, Recommendation Systems, Gen AI.

  • Hands-on experience in development and maintenance of supervised and unsupervised ML models

  • Experience in Prompt engineering, RAG and LLMs is a strong plus.

  • Strong analytical skills and programming skills, with experience with deployment in production environment.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners, Technology leadership and governance teams both verbally and by creating good documentation.

  • Experience supporting and working with multi-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

  • Implementation or working experience of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery using tools and automation capabilities such as, Git, Jenkins, XLRelease

  • Hands-on experience with Cloud technologies

  • Be a collaborator. Ask questions. Re-use when possible. Understanding of the compliance risk landscape is a plus.

  • Experience in working in an Agile team.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefits
