Legal Assistant

Location: 5080 N 40th Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85018

Pay Range: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour

Work Model: Hybrid (2 days in the office) - This position requires the candidate to be self-sufficient as they will be the only person in the office on those days.

Primary Responsibility:

The Legal Assistant will support Attorneys by preparing legal documents, pleadings, drafts, correspondence, conducting legal research, responding to client requests, tracking file locations, preparing status reports, and providing other administrative assistance necessary for the efficient operation of the department.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Prepare drafts of legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence as directed.

  • Request missing documents, run PACER and SCRA searches, and order reinstatement/payoff figures.

  • Organize and obtain information needed for lawsuit files and coordinate with co-counsel to facilitate hearing representation.

  • Organize online files, coordinate hearings, request fee authorizations, and manage multiple calendars.

  • Enter relevant legal information into client vendor systems to provide current status and document backup.

  • Maintain electronic case files with all legal activity, including imaging documents and processing vendor invoices.

  • Communicate with clients, borrowers, courts, and external parties as necessary or as directed by a department attorney or manager.

  • Perform all other duties as requested.

Position Preferences:

  • Two to four years of college in business, finance, or a related field.

  • Three to five years of experience in civil litigation, mortgage banking, or real estate law.

  • Excellent PC skills with the ability to adapt rapidly to various systems.

  • Ability to manage workflow in a highly active, high-volume environment and perform multiple duties simultaneously.
