How will you make an impact in this role?

As a Lead Data Analysts in our Mission Control organization, you will be essential in providing enterprise services to ensure high levels of product availability for the customers and partners of American Express. This role is instrumental in the use of analytics as a critical value driver across Mission Control. Key responsibilities may include:

  • Partner across all Mission Control functions to turn data into information and insights to drive key decision making and behavior changes.

  • Partner with Leadership and Governance team to create actionable, standardized performance metrics, KPIs and guide report design for Mission Control.

  • Develop Data Governance policies and procedures for Mission Control. Create and maintain reference guides to detail proper procedures for consistent data quality.

  • Develop KPIs to measure Mission Control performance. Create and maintain a business glossary including metadata and reference data.

  • Develop strategies for collecting, transforming, cleaning, and modeling data with the goal of identifying meaningful trends to support decision-making as well as validating quality to meet the organizations requirements.

  • Prepare reports for leadership and other stakeholders stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.

  • Primary partner for Leadership to understand the performance of the Mission Control organization. When a metric is lacking or exceeding expectations, identify meaningful, actionable insights that aligns organization performance.

  • Partner with Engineering teams in designing Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) activities, and building intermediary tables and Tableau dashboards.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, MIS, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or related degree.

  • Expertise with data visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI, ClickView, etc.

  • Experience developing and maintaining optimized tables for reporting through ETLs.

  • Python/R or other statistical programming languages.

  • Project and resource management experience, outlining objectives, and timelines, and coordinating work across multiple contributors.

  • Strong communication skills, as well as written and verbal presentation skills and experience presenting to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mastery of SQL, some experience with SparkSQL, Hive, etc.

  • Significant experience in OLAP databases such as Snowflake or Redshift.

  • Experience with Data Analytics for a technology operations organization.

  • Shown teamwork and negotiation skills along with the ability to influence without authority.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $170,000.00 annually bonus benefits
