At Pauley Construction, as a Fiber Splicer I, youll perform the duties as a fiber splicer as a part of the construction of telecommunications outside plant to ensure scope of work performed is within standards required by customer.

What youll do as a Fiber Splicer I
- You will, with guidance, splice overhead, underground or submarine multiple conductor cables.
- You will, climb utility poles or towers, utilizes truck mounted lift-bucket or descends into underground vaults.
- You will cut sheath from installed cable to gain access to defective cable connections.as well as cuts and peels sheath and insulation from newly installed cable and conductors
- You will Test (traces or phase out) each conductor to identify corresponding conductors in adjoining cables, using test lamp or bell system.
- You will read and interpret (i.e. mechanical, electrical, digital) drawings, maps, blueprints diagrams, etc.
What youll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.
- Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
- May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed.
- May include working nights and holidays as needed.
- May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business and job requirements.
Additional qualifications (if applicable)
- You will have 0-1 or more years experience as a fiber splicer with experience on outside plant or system installations while working from blueprints, specifications, and system documentation
- You will have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You are able to lift up to 80 lbs
- Basic understanding of splicing principles or ability to learn
- Basic experience with electrical work
- Experience working from hand-holes and manholes
- Must pass company drug testing
- Must know the color code system for cable pairs
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work with internal and external customers
- Must have strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with product vendors and customers
- Ability to work from oral or written instructions and plan work without direct supervision
- Possesses proficient personal computer operations skills
- Comply with all safety regulations and meet safety requirements to maintain a successful safety record
- Assume all duties as assigned
Physical abilities & exposures
- Routinely:Performing these job functions may be required to lift or move up to 10 up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally:Use ladder, keyboard and mouse
Pay Range:The Fiber Splicer I hourly wage range is \$21.00 - \$24.00 /hr, depending on experience.
