The Opportunity

What you'll do:

We are seeking a dedicated Claims Litigation Support Specialist I (Mid Level).

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Colorado Springs, CO; Plano, TX; Chesapeake, VA; Charlotte, NC or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Within defined guidelines and framework, assists with legal work including but not limited to, contract administration and document preparation for Auto Property Litigation, Recovery Litigation, Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and Compliance Audits.

  • Conducts reviews on national firms to ensure contingency fees reflect only the percentage based on the contract and that which was recovered in litigation, not amounts recovered in Subrogation.

  • Coordinates with counsel for release of any evidence and closes out recovery file.

  • Conducts quarterly reviews to ensure USAA compliance ensuring that only those employees with a need have access to shared emails, websites and security groups do so.

  • May include visiting firms and training new employees as well as reviewing their work within defined guidelines.

  • Reviews all incoming friendly suits and coordinates with both counsel and various vendors to ensure they are properly named within the ALIS system.

  • Reviews settlement requests to confirm they are within the applicable policy limits and appropriate coverage, and ensures authority is properly documented both for individual settlements as well as aggregate authority.

  • Completes settlement request process, and coordinates with national counsel to ensure timely closing of the files.

  • Manages the Business Continuation planning and exercise, which includes ongoing review of the Business Continuation plans, communicating any changes to the plan to upper management as well as the BCC Staff advisor, and annual plan approval.

  • In the event of an actual emergency, serves as the POC for implementation of the plan which may consist of emailing or calling firms to inform them of any issues such as a system shut down etc.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma required.

  • 2 years of experience working with claims or in claims litigation, policy service, flood, or member solutions.

  • Experience within the underlying Litigation Support Team (LST) support roles.

  • Experience using Claims Legacy Replacement (CLR) Portal.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office product.

  • Knowledge of rules and practices related to discovering and collecting litigation data.

  • Knowledge of legal collections processes and procedures, third-party vendor processes, payment solutions, payment negotiations and compliance with legal standards.

What sets you apart:

  • 2-3 years of Litigation Support experience

  • 2-3 years of experience in Case Management and Document Management

  • 2-3 years of Research experience

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $51,840-$92,880 .

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
