Amazon BD and Market Analysis Manager – H2 & Sustainability Tech in Phoenix, Arizona

We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to own strategic analysis and partnership development for hydrogen and other sustainability technologies being deployed by Amazon’s Global Engineering Services team. The Hydrogen Economy along with other new sustainability technologies have been identified as one of the strategic areas to meet this ambitious goal. This role will focus on conducting strategic analysis to unlock value of the different sustainability tech adoptions and forging strategic partnerships with AWS customers, Climate Pledge Fund portfolio companies and Amazon supplier base. We regularly work with major energy and technology companies as well as high-growth start-ups to identify new partnership opportunities. You will be required to handle multiple projects that may span decarbonization technologies such as Hydrogen, Building-sited solar, wind and geothermal, green cement and green steel. You will be analytical driven to build demand and supply forecasts for the different sustainability tech deployments and use these analyses to unlock strategic value for partnerships. You will also be forward-thinking and effectively advocate for strategic partners across various Amazon businesses in order to deliver successful and value-added partnership for Amazon and its partners. Up to 25% travel required.

Key job responsibilities

• Defining, analyzing and planning hydrogen and other sustainability tech deployment demand and supply from a variety of use cases and business units within Amazon

• Conduct industry review, return analysis and develop investment thesis on hydrogen and hydrogen-based fuels.

• Manage, track and triage a pipeline of potential partners from AWS customers, Climate Pledge Fund portfolio companies and Amazon supplier base.

• Maintain relationship with certain partners, collect market intel and influence Amazon’s sustainability tech adoption strategy

• Identify sustainability tech supply chain and logistic bottlenecks and develop business solutions that have a balance between diversification and simplicity

• Lead white paper and cross functional reviews to gain consensus and leadership approval for deal executions

• Up to 25% travel required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required- Economics/Engineering/Business/Science

  • 5+ years of market analytics and business development experience in clean energy, sustainability tech or decarbonization industries.

  • Experienced in doing financial modeling, analyzing investment returns and calculating long term NPVs.

  • Some experience in leading deals from origination to execution, by working with legal, finance and other internal teams as well as decision makers at counterparts.

  • A passion for sustainability is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master Degree in a related field

  • Led high stake transactions or executed partnership agreements

  • CxO relationships and large network in the energy sector

  • Ability to create structure in an ambiguous environment

  • Strong Bias for Action with an ability to look around corners and deliver results for the business

  • Experience interacting with and influencing executives

  • Ability to think big and dive deep, and embody a unique mix of leadership and technical acumen

  • Ability to present in front of large groups of stakeholders, with confidence and clarity

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions, and work cross organizationally to build consensus.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $73,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $177,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
